I am wondering what I can do to help my aching throat which hurts every morning after I wake up. It feels so dry and raw. I tried using a humidifer in the room...doesnt help much, turned off the heater doesnt help either.
thanks

Sounds like you sleep with your mouth open. I think I do that to because I wake up with my mouth and throat bone dry. Is your nose stuffed up when you wake up? Like many people you may have microscopic dust mites in your pillows or mattress. Their waste droppings containing a protein to which many people are allergic. This may cause your nose to get stuffy and then you breathe through your mouth. You could try some Benadryl before bed or use those snore strips that allow you to breath through your nose. Keep using the humidifier also.

Drink lots of water throughout the day to keep you hydrated. In the morning drink some tea. It loosens up any mucus that forms in the throat over the night due to congestion from dry conditions. Try not to keep the room overheated. It happens alot in winter. Chewing gum and sucking on sucrets helps. Also take an anthihistimine or spray some chloraseptic in your throat. Use mouthwash before you go to bed at night it will kill bacteria germs that help contribute to sore throats. Just some suggestions.

It sounds like you have the heat up high in your house the same thing happens to me sometimes. Take an old tall glass and fill it a little over half full and put it on or by your radiator just repeat the cycle when the water runs out. The water in the glass will act as a homemade humidifier. If your room is really big, use an old pot to put the water in. I use a glass on my radiator and it helps me a lot.

Like most people your a mouth breather, sinuses or ? the humidity in the room is low.
We got a $9.98 humidifier from Wal-Mart, only had to run it a few hours every night before bedtime, worked great.
