so today when i came home, i found two cats on my deck. i gave them food, water & a cardboard box for somewhat shelter. i'm pretty sure they're lost & have an owner, but there's no collar but you can defineately tell that there was once a collar there (probably fell off somehow). the black one keeps running away, but eventually he comes back. i THINK they're both male.
i don't know whether or not to let them in the house. like. i know they don't have rabies. but they might have fleas or something. if i DO let them in, i'll probably just keep them in the bathroom until i can find their owner/give them to a shelter.

so how can i tell if they have fleas or other..sicknesses? oh and my cat isn't very fond of them. ..keeps hissing at them. he's jealous =(

should i let them in & how can i tell if they have fleas/other sicknesses? i'll probably have to wait until at least friday before i bring them to shelter, if i have too. so please help!!

they're no older than a year old.

take them to the vet to have them checked out and they can also scan them and see if they have microchips

The best way to tell if they have any sickness is, of course, to take them to the vet. Also, look at their coats and eyes...you can tell if a kitty doesn't feel well if their coats or eyes look sick.

Go ahead and bring them in. They'll be fine in the bathroom.

Please don't take them to the shelter. Many newspapers will let you put "Found" ads in for free. Also, there are websites where you can list found pets. If no owner shows up, try to find them a new one or get them into a No-Kill shelter. Contact your local SPCA to find out where one is.

Good luck!

No, don't let them near your cat. They just might have diseases or fleas. You don't want your cat exposed to anything.

Sounds like you have taken good care of them for now with the food, water and box.

In the meantime, put up some signs and notify the animal shelter that you have them in case someone calls or checks for them there until you can take them in.

aww poor kitties. I'd give the vet a call and tell him your comming down with two kittens that need to be checked out..

Before you take them into your house.... get them into the carrier and bring them down to the vet to get checked out. ...

I know that you may not want to do this because it will cost money, but I know that when my mom and I found kittens...the vet checked them out for free.....

Considering you already have a cat, you dont want to bring any kind of worms or fleas or ticks into your house.

I tend to not like shelters. I dont like the way they care for the animals (Or dont care for them)... I was reading what somebody else posted, about putting a "Found" add in the paper..... maybe a local paper .... dont describe the cats, just write something like "Two cats found in ____ insert the town you live in____ " .... Hopefully somebody will claim them.

i would leave them outside for right now. they may go home on thier own. is your cat a female. if so she might be coming into heat since they are both males.
if you really want to find them homes or find out if the are lost put up ads around your area. everywhere you can think of. call your animal shelter.
but they could have something you might not be able to get rid of. you sound very logical just follow your good sense and your heart.

You can take them to a vet or just put them on your back porch befor you can find the owners.

its best to leave them outside, but they probably belong to someone who is on vacation or something so just wait and take them to the vet and theyll be fine.
