Four words come to mind. "I don't think so"
I'm only 14 and so is he, but he's so into telling me he "loves" me. I don't want to hurt his feelings, but when you've been dating for only a month and the most you've done is held hands, it's pretty retarded. Any ideas for me to get him to stop with out directly telling him? I like him a lot..but come on!

Your replies have been quite helpful and I definetly wanted to respond to them. Thank you for the compliment of having a good head on my shoulders, it's one thing I can be proud of. I assumed he just meant "like" at first, but he seems to really mean it, which scares me, quite frankly. To those of you who mentioned kissing/sex, no we've done neither one. And the latter will NOT happen, I know the consequences of that!
All in all, I'd just like to say thank you for taking the time to respond.

For a young girl, you're pretty sharp about this whole love thing. It certainly took me a lot longer to realize it.
The guy's 14. He's having a lot of strong feelings for you and that's the only word he knows for it. Cut him some slack and let him down ASAP.

Honey, you sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders. I hope your parents know how lucky they are.
Obviously you like this boy. Keeping that in mind, there's no reason to take the hateful or "bitchy" route. I would advise that you tell the boy that you feel like you're too young to be getting so serious. Just let him know that you like him a lot, but that you're just not ready to do the whole "love thing" and that you want to enjoy being young. It's always best to take a route that will leave you with positive feelings rather than causing hard ones.

You seem to be pretty smart. Try reading what you just posted here and in the same way just tell him. If you dont feel comfortable, then write him a letter.
Now, be very careful cause he might be using this to manipulate you into doing something else. Males tend to manipulate females, especially at that early stage of life (and it gets better after awhile). So, as soon as you put your foot down, he will stop and think twice before messing around with you.
Say it like it is,, girl and dont be scared!!
You're a lucky girl. Take Care of yourself, cause later on in life that will be your starting point for defining your personality.

You sound like you have your head on straight for your age, good for you! Remember, he is probably not experienced this "feeling" before, and most of us at the age of 14 called that funny feeling "love" when it was really a myriad of other feelings. Let him know that your not ready for a "love" relationship. When you talk to him, don't tell him how or what he is feeling because only he knows :) Speak in "I" statements, and let him know that you are too young to get that serious, but that you want to hang out with him still.

BE strong, and just tell him that you've only dated for a month, and tell him this "love" thing is just too soon for comfort. Remind him that you are only 14 years old and tell him that you just aren't ready for that type of serious relationship. Ask him to cool it with the love thing, and ask him if it would be okay to simply continue dating and having fun!!!!
If your answer is negative, then I would break it off with him,and start dating other guys and going out with friends as often as possible.
Good luck!!!!!

Yeah sweaty , you both are too young for true love now .. I been in ur situation while iam 18 !! And i didnt want to hurt his feelings .. But you have to be strict in such a situation so as not to keep him hangin , I know it's hard , But he will take his time and be fine again , If he is changed Dont ever feel guilty , you seem to be having good thinkin in ur young age , Dont let him affect that !! Go on in ur life , still have alot to enjoy ;)

It's a relief to see that you know the difference. Too many people use the word "love" too loosely.

well he cant control how he feels so i dont think iit would be right to TELL him to stop liking you. U should ask him what he thinks love is. maybe he thinks hes in love because he hasnt ever felt anything stronger.
