Oh, gosh this is becoming ridiculous. I am not really interested in the New Age, but because the concepts are similar to my own religious beliefs, I felt the facts must prevail. Since I happen to have a nose for facts, I have looked up every shread of information I could find, and to this date I am still delerious. Could someone PLEASE tell me why the New Age movement existed in the first place! I am seeking the truth so as to keep it from becomign toxic. Again, why does the New Age exist in the first place? If you do not know, do not bother to answer. Besides, I would rather read The Lord of the Rings (trilogy) than study this spiritual garbage. What is this, the 1960's?

New Age exists simply as an *individual* approach (vs. organized approach) to spiritual exploration. New Age has borrowed from all the world's major religions with influences from Spiritualism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism, Sufism, and Neo-Paganism being especially strong. With all respect intended, why do you find this ridiculous? (Some people's garbage are other people's treasures.)

To be fair, I think much of the scientific progress that occurred at the time was because of men who thought that since God created the world and was a logical God, there must be ways to learn more about how His creation worked. You have to admit there wasn't much real science going on anywhere that didn't basically believe in a theistic way. Alchemy, yes. Science, no. But if the Atheati had existed, the Black Plague might have been avoided, since so many of the Atheati are cats, and the diseased rat population would have been cut down dramatically.

You're getting hung up on labels.
Instead of looking into New Age, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc, etc, why not just look for the truth about God?
Any teaching that tells you God is Love is leading you towards God. Any teaching that tries to instill fear is leading you away from God.
Any teaching that tells you we are all One and you can find the path to Divinity within yourself is leading you to God. Any teaching that tells you you are separate from God and that you must go through an intermediary to find God is leading you away.
