depending on the medication it is either once a month or daily. The heartwork mpreventive meds for cats are once a month only. Read the labeling or contact your veternarian first before giving your pet.

It depends on what kind you use. The most common heartworm preventative is heartguard and it is given once a month. Also the majority of flea preventatives like frontline or advantage is also given once a month but depending on how bad fleas are in he area it can be give every two to three weeks.

I asked my vet why cats are not treated for heartworm. He told me that they get it so rarely that they are not treated as dogs are. He has been in practice over twenty years and has never seen a case of heartworm in a cat!

My vet gave me a pill that I fed my kitten once at 8 weeks and again at 10 weeks. I don't know when she's supposed to have another one, maybe in a month...
