ok ive been interested by how the church works. And before I start I don’t want anyone to get offended it’s only a question. What gives the father the right to do gods work? I watched the film the magdilin sisters and it mad me sick how the nuns treated all them girls. My question is: what gives anyone the right to say there in gods right hand? What gives them the right to listen to wons confession and say they are forgiven by him? This is only a question of interest.

The practices that you are concerned about are all Catholic Traditions and have nothing to do with Scripture. These traditions that they teach and practice are not biblical but man made. These were some of the reasons that the protestants separated from the Catholic Church. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life." He did not say "I am the tradition."

By church, I think you mean Roman Catholic Church.
From my standpoint, people who submit to priests and nuns give them the "right." From their (church leaders) standpoint, they feel God does, that there is an unbroken like of ordination from Saint Peter to the present priests, and so on (the Church uses Matt. 16:18-19 a lot in this way, and Matt. 18:15-20).
The Bible indicates that Christian believers have authority (Mark 13:34), but not to "Lord it over" each other (Matt. 20:25-27). Through the centuries and including the present, though, there have been many abuses.

Well, this is the Catholic belief. I personally don't think it's right. They seem to make it look like some people are holier then others, which isn't true.
Father's can say you're forgiven and stuff, but it's not like they're needed. You can talk to the Big Man all by yourself.
They've given themselves the right...and it's kind of twisted. And yeah, that is just a movie, but unfortunately a lot of it does happen. The Catholic belief is a little screwy if you ask me....no offense people.

the way the nuns treated the girls in the movies is mostly based on overall public opinion of the girls. i'm not trying to generalize catholicism at all, but there is a tendency for them to want women to be obedient and docile. the fact that they girls were free spirited and expressing their feelings scared them and they thought they could remove their method of expression through work and god.

YOUR RIGHT THE WAY YOU FEEL. THEY DON'T HAVE RIGHT TO SAY THEY ARE FORGIVEN OR NOT. ITS GOD TO JUDGE NOT MEN. YOU WONT FIND ANY WHERE IN THE BIBLE THAT IT IS OKAY FOR PRIEST TO LISTEN TO OUR SINS.
LIKE THE SCRIPTURE IN (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) . . . 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.
YOU CAN TELL WHO ARE GODS TRUE WORSHIPERS FORM THE FALSE

Jesus said concerning church leaders in Matt "call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven."
And the biggest abomination is to call the pope, 'holy father'.
I'm sorry if I have offended RC's not my intention. Just speaking the truth.
But the biggest question is your salvation. You won't be judged by these 'fathers' you will be judged by your faith and the gospel. Are you saved? Are you born again? Jesus said you cannot enter the heaven unless you are born again. Born of water and spirit. Have you gotten down on your knees in repentance and confessed your sins to God? have you asked Jesus to save you? Have you been water immersed/baptized? as an adult who has a knowledge of what you are doing?
God bless you dear

Rarely does the Church do Gods Work, Gods work is done in your heart and that doesn't require any pastoral assistance

Don't know what film you are referring to, but "God gave to Christ in his capacity as the Son of man on earth to go and forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6). Thus, the crowds who witnessed this new power "glorified God, who had given such authority to men" (Matt. 9:8; note the plural "men"). After his resurrection, Jesus passed on his mission to forgive sins to his ministers, telling them, "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. . . . Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained" (John 20:21–23)."

There are no fathers in the Christian faith. The Christians don't need them because Christ is our mediator and He alone can offer forgiveness. We do, however refer to God as our Father.

I'M NOT CRITIZING THE CATHOLIC,OR ANY OTHER RELIGION IT COULD BE GOD SPEAKS THROUGH THE FATHER, LIKE THE RELIGION THAT SUPPOSE TO BE ABLE TO HEAL THE SICK THROUGH GOD SPEAKING TO THE PASTOR. I BELIEVE I CAN TALK TO GOD AND HE WILL ANSWER MY PRAYERS AS QUICK AS A FATHER CAN FORGIVE MY SINS OR A PERSON SUPPOSE TO BE ABLE TO HEAL ME. MY RELIGION SAY GO STRAIGHT TO THE FORGIVER AND HEALER. THAT IS GOD
