Being a veteran of Viet Nam, I'd say it is very hypocritical of you to say you support the war but are too scared to join a branch of the military. If you aren't willing to spill your blood, why are you so willing to send someone else to spill their blood for you. It is natural to be afraid but if you support the cause you should be over there helping to do the fighting. You sound like a typical right- wing, conservative, Republican. Just like George W. bush during the Viet Nam conflict. He was nothing but a yellow bellied, chicken-sh*t coward, making sure he used his daddys influence to keep him from seeing combat. I don't know you so I can't really judge you but if you strongly believe in the war and in killing Iraqis, you should be willing to back your beliefs up. I think it would be very hard to live with myself to be letting others die or become maimed for me.

Speaking as a Desert Storm Marine Veteran, I can safely tell you that it would be a mistake to go and serve given the info you've provided. It's totally ok and healthy to be afraid, it's seriously dangerous over there. Serving one's country, is a lot like being called into the clergy, one simply feels called and does so without feeling any obligation. Personally, I've always resented those vets and civilians who mark people's patriotism by the degree of their military service. Keep in mind that some of the greatest patriots of all time, Abe Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and so forth simply never felt called to serve.
It's totally ok and needed for patriots like yourself to stay back at home and rally for our troops. In case you haven't noticed there is war being waged here in our media and our classrooms. Do our troops proud by continuing to speak proudly of your patriotism and by showing your support for the men and women who proudly represent you and me both. I hope this helps.

Sure it is. Heck i was in the Navy over there in the Med. Tossing F18's I was scared. And no where near the front. It is natural to be scared. Fear is what drives courage. Without courage there can be no Valor.
Thanks

I think you are being smart. Chances are you COULD be killed.
With those thoughts in mind, it may make you a liability. But FEAR is a reasonable and useful response.

before you join the army, you'd better think about why we're over there, why we haven't found anything, why our soldiers are dying by the hundreds, and why we're killing hundreds of innocent civilians, a.k.a, "Iraqis"......
