About 6-7 months ago i bought a plasma T.V and the sales advisor said that it was H.D ready (also stamped on the T.V) as i have no other H.D hardware i didn't check the connections i also didn't know what constituted H.D at the time as i wasn't clued up on the connections. I found it only has 1 DVI-D connection so my question is this can i in anyway take the T.V back to curry's claiming i was miss sold as i paid full price for a tv that has an old standard as i cant even connect my xbox 360 on H.D mode. I Really think the T.V should have been sold at a lower price or i should have been informed about the connections on the T.V as even the cheap T.V's you can pick up in Asda and Tesco are all singing and dancing.

Take it back and demand money back as goods sold "unfit for purpose". If they get shirty, report 'em to Trading Standards.

Very unfortunate for you my friend, but you should have done a lot of research before purchasing. There was an article in the Daily Telegraph a couple of months ago, with a massive article slating Philips (who appeared to be the main culprit for providing TV's with DVi connections claiming HD ready) for producing such a product with no way of being able to plug in another HD ready appliance. I pulled it out to show a friend of mine who had suffered like you. He bought a Philips LCD HD ready TV just before the World Cup, and the darned thing might as well not say HD ready on the front. My friend has HD Sky and the Sky box won't connect to the TV. Apparently, the Philips TV has DVI connectors, whilst the Sky box has HDMI connectors, and never the twain shall meet! My friend spoke with Philips about it, and they reccomended some analogue cable that converted DVI to HDMI, but the quality is really poor, as you would expect going through an annalogue cable.
Comet - where he bought the TV from, could only apologise, as apparently they were none the wiser about this issue, and though that HD ready is HD ready, but although weren't prepared to completely replace the telly, stated that they no longer sell TV with DVI connectors. Sadly, his HD ready TV is about as ready as my old Sony Trinitron!

I'm gutted for you, coz you thought you were getting something when really you weren't. My suggestion is to learn from this expensive lesson, and never buy from Comet again, and make sure wherever you buy, that you don't buy Philips!

I don't think you'll have any luck getting your money back since DVI is an HD technology...

It may not be that bad though -- you could try a HD switcher. This would allow your HD devices to the switch and use the output from the switcher to connect to the tv - since your tv has the dvi port, you will probably need and hdmi to dvi adaptor...

Good luck - hope this helps...

Yep, you got screwed. Never gear though, as any TV that old should have Component inputs on it, which look like red, blue, and green ports on the back of the TV.

That is where you hook in the TV to the 360, using Microsofts component cables.

6 or 7 months ago? You must be dreaming right? Your ignorance is going to be a valid issue? Guess that's why you're asking here...

No they won't take it back, put yourself in their shoes and think about it.

if its still under guarentee you could ask as its not suitable for what you wanted. might be covered by the consumer goods act which states an item must be fit for the purpose for which it is sold
