An open wound the size of a penny on a kitten is BIG! You really should take him to the vet. The Humane Society is usually pretty affordable. Also check for a low cost vet in your area. Due to the fact that it's a kitten and that he doesn't go outside (i'm assuming) there is no reason he should develope a sore like that for no medical reason.
Also, you need to consider if you'll be able to afford the kitten when he/she becomes a CAT. What if he has a serious problem that's fixable? It would be horrible if he had to be put down or something along those lines due to your inability to afford treatment. I don't mean to sound rude but it's something you really need to keep in mind...

First of all you shouldnt have pets if you cant afford them. Poor kitten. I hope one day you get a hole in your flesh and you can see your bone. Why dont you take him to the vet and leave him there.....its a vet, do u really think it will die there. Im guessing NO. But in the hands of an irresponsible person is the last place a living creature should be. Seriously just go drop it off at the vet and pretend u dont know who's it is and walk away. Wait until you can AFFORD a pet.

Guys: Put some mild anticeptic on the wound, and leave the kitten alone. Mother cat would know what to do. Observe the kitten, and make sure she is feeding just like other kittens. After the birth kittens look awful. May be this kitty will be just fine.

It sounds pretty nasty, how did it do it ? Maybe just keep an eye on it, make sure that there is no foreign body in there. It will take a while to heal, just by the kitten licking it, it should stay pretty clean, maybe confine it to 1 room and keep an eye on it. If it gets red or kitty developes a temperature then you need to do something about it. in the meantime save your pennies. Good Luck

Some animal shelters will provide care that's paid with money from donations. They have one of those places near where I live.
Whatever, you have to get that cat to the ASPCA, a shelter, or a vet. If you can't pay for it now, how about CANCELLING YOUR INTERNET SERVICE for a few months? If you can afford to post in this forum, you can afford a vet.
Go ASAP. If it's something like a Brown Recluse Spider bite, it will get worse and the cat could die.

If the bone is exposed your cat runs a VERY high risk of infection. Your cat needs to see a vet. If you are unable to pay the vet you may need to think about finding a new home for your cat

If there is an SPCA were you live I would call them and see what they say. Take the cat in and explain to them how it happen and that you don't have enough money for a vet. Tell them that you want it checked out but that you need a payment pain you can afford, they maybe able to help you out. GOOD LUCK.

Get to a vet. You may be able to treat it at home , but you have to know which meds are safe to use. Vet meds and human meds are very different . You need to know the dosage also. A lot of animals have died from as little as one aspirin.

Please see if you can go to a clinic that offers discounts. If you call a nearby vet they may be able to refer you somewhere. Is there a vet medical school in your area?
Also many vet offices extend credit and you can pay over time.

Pet ownership means taking care of and being responsible for that animal. Turn off your cell phone and your cable tv to save money, but first...take the animal to a vet...NOW!
