www.sidestep.com
They search airline websites as well as search engines (e.g. Orbitz, OneTravel, Travelocity, etc.).
I always use them; however, if you get a deal through them that's at Orbitz, if it's all on one airline, go to that airline's website, and see if it's cheaper there. There may be a difference of +/- $5-10

Sometimes actually if you go the airline's website or call them, you can get a better deal then other travel websites like travelocity. From I understand, the airlines block of certain seats for certain prices for certain days.

If your looking for the best deal, you can't get it from one place.

Looking around is the best way to get a great deal.

This new websites have made it pretty easy to get a price so basically search the main ones, and then you can probably claim that you got the best deal.

I find Yahoo Travel and Cheap Seats offer the best deals, but things change by the hour sometimes.

I fly abroad about 3-4 times a year and the cheapest sites I have found to date [for longhaul .. not Europe as you can use Ryanair and EasyJet for those] is: cheapflights.co.uk and lastminute.com

Go to: http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/ [if you are in the UK]
or http://www.cheapflights.com/ [If you are in the USA]

Another cheap one is:Lastminute.com
http://www.lastminute.com/

I booked a flight to Uganda for December 31st and every site I was going on was quoting about £900 to £2000. I went on lastminute.com and played about with the dates a bit [departure and return dates] and got a flight for £330!
