I know you can take the picture there when you go, but you may be able to bring your own picture. Try going to the website or calling them before hand.

Depends on where you are going to apply for a passport. Post office? Courthouse? Passport Agency? Passport expediting company? Most of the post offices that accept passport applications should have a camera to take pictures and be knowledgable enough to do them according to passport regulations. Two identical photos are required on the application. Click here for regulations http://travel.state.gov/passport/guide/composition/composition_874.html

When you go to a drug store or Walmart, sometimes the photos those jokers take of you do not comply because the image size of your face is too large or too small.

What would happen if you go to your appointment at the passport agency and their camera is down? If it were me, I would have pictures taken in advance at a photo processing place like Ritz Camera, Wolf Camera, MotoPhoto or the like and carry the pictures with me.

Just to help you out I just recently got mine renewed and was told by the person taking my papers and picture that places such as Wal-Greens or Rite Aid aren't taking the pictures at the right size. I don't know if they changed it but go to a travel agent is the best bet because they KNOW what they are doing.

You have to provide two passport size photos with your application. Copy places like Kinko's takes them.

I had mine taken at the passport office, but as another post stated, you can get them from places like Kinko's as well.
