I know they should not force you, and if you dont want to listen thats fine, its your choice. But you have to see it from the believer's point of view. They believe if you continue in your present state you will burn in hell, if you saw a car heading for the edge of a cliff would you not try and warn the driver?

'There is no compulsion in religion' (Qur'an 2:256)

They see it as an invasion of their privacy.

You answered your own question in a way: "but you have to see it from the believer's point of view." Look at it from the non-believer's point of view, "you're bothering me, I'm doing something else." A car heading off the edge of a cliff can be observed by the senses, it is tangible. God is not tangible and unprovable. Besides, several people with several different religions are all competing for you much like insurance companies do for your business (see all the ads on TV); they become a nuisance.

You also have to understand that many of us who don't like being preached to don't like it for a reason. We've been there and done that and we already know the drill. We didn't agree with it then, and we don't now.

I, too, hold certain things true that I really wish other people could see (but don't). It's like watching them fall off the cliff. But I also work on the assumption that what I hold as truth is something I came to after YEARS of spiritual searching. And I come to the conclusion that people have to come to their own spiritual truth on their own. If your God really wants these people who don't want to hear the preaching - he has the power to put the wheels in motion and prove to us we're wrong. If he chooses not to give us that proof - that's his choice.

what you and other religious people fail to understand is that nobody wants to hear that they are horrible people who are in trouble if they don't conform to god or whatnot i mean who are you to judge me and force your religion on anybody in the first place and of course you should warn a person who is gonna go flying off the edge of a cliff as these are two different scenarios altogether however people don't want to hear that and let people make decisions for themselves as it's nobody's decision to make but the person themselves i mean would you like to have an athiest or agnostic or a person from another religion all up in your face all the time telling you that you are wrong and making a mistake i would think not

If I had already heard people talk about this cliff and no one could see the cliff I think I would keep on driving over this "cliff" even if this person thought it was the very first time I had heard about the cliff they are wrong about the cliff I have heard about the cliff and the cliff is tedious at best.

There is no cliff, and all prophets are false.

I like it when people come to me and ask questions because they see something interesting about my lifestyle. That's always a compliment.
I never force it on others. When I was a new believer and didn't really know how to share my faith, I admit, I went a bit overboard, but a few years and hopefully a little bit of wisdom taught me differently.

There is a huge difference between a car heading for a cliff and someone's perception of where they are headed after life ends.

First off no one ever preaches about their faith, they preach about their religion. And religion is nothing more than a person's opinion or a group of peoples opinions that support their feelings or opinions. . Regardless if it is religion, anyone becomes offended when someone tries to force their opinion on them.

would not the driver of the car be aware of the cliff? if not, there is not much a person could do. as far as listening to someone drone on about their religion, if the listener is non responsive, drop it. i'm not interested.

because we think you are wrong. i dont think im in a car heading for a cliff.... i think i can choose for myself and dont need an all powerful being to help me decide what is right and wrong. and i dont have to see it from your view.... the same as saying you have to see it from the scientists view....we evolved. and if i think you are all disillusioned by people trying to control you and your thoughts with religion like they have for thousands of years....would you jump out of the car?.

No, you need to see it from our point of view -- we've heard your point of view, and we're sick to death of people trying to shove their insanity down our throats.

There is no cliff, but I don't try to force your out of your delusion. Believe any freaking thing you want.

I just don't want to hear about it any more.

If you feel compelled to do something about our lack of belief, pray to your god for our salvation.

Shut down your computer and start praying.

Pray day and night until we are all converted.
