Go on Halsted street between Madison and Harrison and get in any of the Greek establishments there for authentic Gyro and any other Greek dish! It is just a few blocks west of downtown (State street) Chicago.

Greek Corner
Damen and Augusta
This neighborhood joint at the southwest corner of Damen and Augusta (with a pristine view of the Clark gas station across the street) serves up surprisingly good Greek fare from the counter. My companion's Spartan Chicken Wrap was a melange of feta, olives, tasty grilled bird, and other fixin's inside a warm pita, but for my money the standard gyros plate is can't-miss. The meat's freshly shaved and flavorful, the pita triangles grilled on the flattop and well seasoned. The little Greek salad and fries on the side pack a counterpunch that will leave you blissfully numb in the eccentrically decorated storefront -- plastic bunches of grapes hung above windows never looked so chewy. In warm times, sit on the adjacent patio and bask in the exhaust, or carry out to your own private spot.

greek town is good but my absolute favorite is called T&G which is a little gyro place on the corner of 51st and cambell, which is two blocks away from western avenue. It is really good, the chicken on pita is great too! I love it!
