It's for the same reason that there are many people who hate Americans (NOTE: I am not saying that all Americans are/should be Christian, read on)

Christianity if poorly represented in this day and age. With Evangelicals beign worse than some Islamic Terrorists and then having a hypocritical stance on homosexuality, to the Pope trying to create World War III, to gay sex scandels in the Church, to President Bush saying that he is on a mission from God, to the Republican party of America using Christianity's values to persuade people to vote for them, the Christians that you hear are not people that give a good reputation to Christianity.

I am not Christian, but I do believe it is a good religion if intepretated well and truthfully.

There are many reasons as to why Christians are hated so much. Sometimes its because so many churches preach judgment, fire and brimstone, or the properity sermon. ahve you ever noticed that the kids in Christian schools seem worse than those in public schools? A lot of people profess to be Christian, and don't walk with Jesus. The hypocrisy alone is enought to turn anyone away. I go to a church where everyone puts on their Sunday morning masks, and there is a lot of the 'holier than thou' attitude.

We as Christians need to get real. Talking doesn't cut it. We need to walk with God and be praying constantly. Paul talked about the persecution we will face.

People don't want to hear that what they're doing is wrong. In Canberra, homosexuals and de-facto relationships have more rights than married couples. Adult websites are multiplying. Spiritualism and yoga are advertised as being the new black.

Its interesting to see the Muslim community expanding so fast here in Australia. With all the multi-cultural laws, we have to accept everyone elses religions and cultures. Everyone seems to forget that Australia IS a Christian nation, the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit.

Sorry, I got carried away. Christian persecution is nothing new. We just have to rely on God that his will be done.

Typically the hatred or really it is annoyance stems from the evangelising, condescending, hypocritical, arrogant, narrow-minded and "You're going to hell!" attitude that so many "Christians" seem to display on here and around the world. It is hard to find good examples of who a Christian is in current society.

Many do not display a loving, forgiving and compassionate attitude, nor do they display any of the qualities of Christ. I do not hate Christianity, but many of the followers are a bit hard to handle and quite honestly I am tired of being "saved" when my beliefs are different or do not fit into the "box" of what someone else thinks. Anyone who acts without respect is annoying, doesn't matter if they are Christian or not.

There are many people who hate Christians for a wide variety of reasons. I have no issue with Christianity but only what the person does with it. There is a preacher in Kansas (Fred Phelps) that goes to picket soldiers funerals and presumes to judge those who have served and died for our country. What I have found is that many Christians get up on a soap box, preach to us, and then do the exact opposite of what they preach. Take the Catholic priests for example. They preach and then molest young boys. No one is without sin but what I find is that very few Christians can accept another without looking down their nose at the sinner. What they have refused to do is look at themselves in the mirror to determine that they are not so perfect themselves. What I do take great offense to is that many of them will put down another's religion before knowing exactly what it is that the other person believes. I am Wiccan and have been called a Satanist or devil worshipper by people who were Christian and supposed friends. Those are hurts caused by people who represent the Christian faith in many areas. The Bible says "judge not lest ye be judged" but it does not keep people from looking down their nose at me. (By the way, Wiccan's do not believe in the devil or Satan or hell. He is a figment of the Christian views and in our opinion does not exist.)

Let me spell it out for you in easy terms;

Self-righteous, often poorly educated, usually very close-minded and always an unforgiving people that cannot allow anything 'different' to exist in their little distorted world.

Pretend you are not a Christian and you are just minding your business (Pagans and Shinto priests as an example do not try to convert anyone to their religion, only Christians and Muslims practice this very annoying thing).

Someone walks up to you that knows nothing about you and after asking one simple little question decides that your life and your accomplishments are meaningless. They condemn you to an eternity of damnation and unless you convert your way of thinking to theirs you have no worth in their eyes. You are already gone, and essentially not even alive..... you are the "walking dead".

They then decide that they must "save you from yourself", and tell you that your life MIGHT be worth something but you will have to cleanse yourself and change to something they are TELLING you is better..... but they are of course offering no proof other than very old, over translated, out-of-context book written by a bunch of sheep farmers several thousand years ago for their tribe somewhere out in the sands of a far-away desert.

Regardless of what you do, they will hound you mercilessly for several weeks or longer now. If you convert, they will haul you away to a Church so you may 'learn the greater mysteries' (this is actually a several week-long subject reinforcement technique called ' brainwashing'). If you do not convert, they will spend TWICE as long hounding you everywhere you go with their little bibles clutched tightly in their fists quoting one worthless verse after another as if by the power of their repeated words you will succumb to their brand of nonsense.

If they fail at conversion, they will spread the word throughout the area that you are an 'unbeliever' and they will attempt to get you shunned wherever you go.

It is in this phase that they will discover other non-believers and of course the process repeats itself........

No one really hates real Christians, they are loving and tolerant
human beings that follow the gentle and caring ways of the greatest man who ever lived Jesus Christ. The problem today is finding a Christian which has become a rare person in today's world of false and evil hypocrites masquerading as Christan's with their propaganda of hate, accusation and false judgment of their fellow humans.

Hate is a very strong word. There are many wonderful Christians. Do not confuse the intelligent open minded members of Christianity with the crazy fundamentalists.

hate is a strong word, but there are quite a few I really really really don't like (ok, ok , I stole that from the white-t's i know). There are a LOT of christians who
a) want to shove their religion done EVERYONE'S throat,
b) do not personify what jesus said his followers should, and
c) pick and choose what they believe

I have found very few who will openly discuss things about their religion and belief without taking offense or being mean and rude or without trying to convert everyone that asks.

I do my best to hate on a personal level, not large-scale. I'm sure other people will mention things like "blue laws" and holding back scientific progress and all the standards, so I'll skip those and say this: Many of them find great glee in thinking that I will be tortured for all eternity. I'm supposed to like someone like that? I think not.
