Hello,
Have you ever seen death? have you ever had someone really close to you die? (my father died in the year 2000). If you had, I dont think you would be asking this kind of question in my opinion.
Death isnt anything like an illness, and never will be just an illness. Human death is a mysterous & profound change of state, its a total paradign shift, its unlike anything else you can describe in words.
**Frankly, I'm glad we humans dont live forever what a horrible propsect.
**What matters is NOT how long a person lives (age) its the sheer quality of that persons life whilst they remain alive. Thats what matters most in my opinion.
**There are many moral & ethical issues involved within the medical world, regarding quality of life and when should someone be allowed to die.
For example what is worse than being stuck in a bed at 20 years old unable to move or communicate yet be alive? what's the quality of life then? or contrast that to a 90year old person who still lives in there own home & remains independant. etc.etc.
**These are highly complex ethical dilemmas, there are no easy answers.
**Im glad that death is still the one reamining & constant certainities we all face. And that nobody (humans) can tamper with that fact.

I suppose someday science will be able to decrease the effects of aging so that humans will live for centuries. But think of the over population problems. No one would die. The Earth's population would double or triple yearly.
There's a great story I always remembered from the back of an old Superman comic. It was about a man on Krypton who discovered the key to immortality. He would live forever and nothing could ever harm him. Then the planet blew up leaving him drifting in space alone for eternity.
Living forever might not be the best thing.

Nobody who has gone through birth can avoid death - it's part of the cycle.
Doctors do their best; but their best can only ever be to DELAY the inevitable, never to STOP it.
The most we can hope for is that we hit heaven a glancing blow as we slide in sideways with a large gin in our hand saying "Woo hoo; what a f*cking ride!"

Death is natural and helps balance out the world. Why would you never want to die, after you get so old you can no longer get around good and would be a burden on someone else..oh geez

I would rather die right now than live forever. We grow old and pass on for a reason. If you really think about it death is not a bad thing.

Death is a part of life like birth. It's what you do in between those two events that matters.

No and why would you want to. You shouldn't live forever. Enjoy the life you have not and stop worry so much about death.

Death is not preventable. If it was, well, how would you like to live for millions of years, never die, do everything twice, you know. It would get boring. Think about it.

I did read somewhere that life expectancy will increase by an increasing amount, due to the continuing medical advances in different areas.

I don't think we should put it off, when it's our time, it's our time - it's nature isn't it I don't know how long i would want to live if i had the choice.
