Now my tooth has a whole, about the size of a pea, i have not been able to eat on the right side of my mouth now for about a year, it is driving me nuts. i havnt gone to the dentist because like everyone else im not educated with dentistry and basically real nervouse to get whatever i need done to it, but now im at the point were im ready to deal with it, and would like advice before i go deal with it. i dont have insurance and limited money, so i will have to have it pulld right? theres no other possiblity? i see that root canals are like 800$ not lookin to do that. this tooth has cavities on all four walls inside the whole. and now hurts 24/7. inside the whole at the bottom in the gum is real sensative so i figure my nerves down there are rottin to because its black at the bottom. can someone help be 4 i see the dentist.

Leaving an infected tooth will cause those around it to become infected eventually...root canal is the viable option if the tooth is a primary chewing tooth...and if it isn't too far gone where extraction is the only acceptable solution.

You can have it extracted and then an implant put in if the loss of the tooth will impact how you eat...

Dentists and their techniques have come a long way in the last while and more and more use tools that provide their clients with a less painful experience. Your dentist will be able to better determine the proper course of treatment specifically for you, your tooth and any phobia you may have at the time of consultation.

Don't leave it much longer ... once the work is done you'll probably wonder why you left things so long...my 17 year old had a root canal and the work itself was without any discomfort with only mild sensitivity for about the next day or so and only if he forgot and tried chewing on it. My 21 year old had 2 extractions and a reconstructed molar yesterday...the extractions were on opposite sides which usually poses for more discomfort than normally...by this afternoon she was doing just fine.

You'll do great...go get it done before Christmas so you can enjoy the season of great foods! :) Good luck

Hi,
This is my story of what happened to my tooth.
First I had a filling then it fell out. Had another filling then nerves died so I had root canal work done. Cost me a fortune and many visits.

When the specialist finishes the root canal work they leave a temporally filling in. Then you are meant to go back to your own dentist and they but in a permanent filling in. Because I was sick to death of seeing a dentist again I left to long, as a result my tooth broke and it had to be removed.

Knowing what I know now I should of had the tooth pulled in the first place. It would have saved me hundreds of dollar and I lot of time and pain.

The tooth I had pulled is also the 3rd tooth from the back on the bottom right. When I smile you can't tell there is a missing tooth.

My advice is to have the tooth pulled. At first you can feel the hole were the tooth use to be. but it doesn't take long the heal and go smooth where the tooth use to be.

take care and I hope things go well for you.

A root canal will run you up to $3000.00. The $800 is only a small part of the procedure.

You could find a dentistry school (usually at a University or college) in your area that will do it for considerably less. The reason you have a root canal is to make sure all the other teeth don't start falling in around the hole created by the pulled tooth. The dentist will explain to you that in the long run it is cheaper to have the root canal because of this.

Pull that sucker out!!!!!! I had mine pulled but on the left side and it does feel better...With a root canal, it'll be more pain but at least you will have all your teeth. A root canal takes like 2 or 3 hours to do on that 3rd molar plus to protect the tooth, it takes a cap to keep the tooth from chipping. Once the nerve is out from the root canal, it has no blood flow to the tooth so it dies is subjected of getting chipped or broken and discolored. I suggest you pull it and take care your teeth better...

The best thing is to save your tooth and to do this you need a root canal. If you have the tooth pulled when it can be saved you will have other problems with other teeth, like teeth shift and create spaces. If there is not choice then extract the tooth. It will cost more to replace it then to save it, just so you know.

Infection in one tooth can cause radiating pain in all other teeth in that line. Once u get the bad tooth treated, the pain will subside. Go for root canal treatment and a crown. Removal will necessitate placement of an artificial tooth and its always better that u save a natural one.

Get it removed. Why waste your time on a tooth that has a hole that large? Plus a root canal is painful.

Just get it pulled. If you spend the money for a root canal, in like 10 years it will probably go bad anyways and then you will have to get it pulled anyways. It's not that bad to have a couple of un-noticeable teeth missing, and it is worth not having all of the damn pain that they cause.

Go see a dentist before you decide. I had a similar problem with a molar, and my dentist was actually able to remove the decay and fill the tooth. Find a reputable dentist and go asap because there's a lot of evidence that things like gum disease and cavities lead to more serious conditions throughout the body.

It was $150 for me to get my tooth fixed, which is barely more than it would be for extraction.

Remove it. It is not worth getting a root canal.
