Take your picky eater grocery shopping and let him choose what he wants to eat. Get him involved in cooking the family meal. Have cut up veggies (carrots, cucumbers) and fruit on the table when he gets home. He may just start munching without realizing it. I try to have a couple veggies, bread, and salad at every dinner. That way, if my picky eaters don't like the main dish, they can still find something to eat on the table. And don't comment or judge or get angry. His hunger is his problem, not yours. (yes you have to offer your children food, but it's not your problem if they turn up their nose at it.) Just feel sad for him and he will start thinking about solving his problem himself.

I always remember going away for a weekend with a bunch of guys on our team.

We were teenagers. Most of the guys were from families with 1 or 2 kids. A lot of them were like your kid. Hates that, won't eat this, has to be cooked a special way and on and on.

One of the guys was from a poorer family of 13 kids.

He would eat everything and was very pleased to eat everybody else's meal also.

Moral of the story...most kids today are spoiled.

ask him what he ate at school.
ask the school to send home a lunch menu have him circle the lunches he likes and what he doesnt like.
My son is the same way and i used to worry that he was just throwing the food away, turns out he likes all kinds of foods i was not aware of,like chicken fried steak and gravy. on the plus side i will get him a lunch or a peanut butter sandwich and applesauce for the days he doesnt like lunch.
this gave me better ideas on what to buy at home,so he didnt want McDonalds all the time.

Tell him to eat what is in front of him and if he doesn't then he doesn't get anything else, i guarantee he will get hungry enough eventually.
Oh and pizza and nuggets is a bad thing to feed your child anyway, unless of course you make a healthy pizza yourself.
My kids love fruit salad as a snack. Try it with some frozen yogurt its yummy

when I make chicken nuggets at home I put spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese and put it into the oven until the cheese melts and then I make spaghetti and have been doing this for years and my kids love it. my kids where told that they had to eat what was on the table or don't eat. I was also brought up that way. in a restaurant you can order what you want but your kitchen is not a restaurant

He is going through a "phase". Besides chicken nuggets and pizza aren't really nutritious as a steady diet. Fast food places are the wrong place to get wholesome nutrious meals. Put food on the table if he doesn't eat he doesn't eat. Or you can start teaching him to cook (as well as clean up) and tell him to fix (and clean up after)his own meals.

yea, from what I've heard, I agree with some of the above, kids are almost perfect machines physically, so their little bodies tell them when they need to eat, and even when they need to eat vegetables and crap food like that. I believe kids should not be forced to eat anything, vegetables included, as their taste buds are not so complex as an adults so some things really taste almost toxic to them. When they say they don't want it, they really mean it, they don't want it. Just don't let them get away with eating a bunch of junk food later.

You shouldn't spoil him. Tell him to eat whatever you made because he's not at a restaurant. My mom used to yell at us if we complained about the food she made, so we just ate whatever was on the table and we turned out fine. Parents these days are way too soft.

Change things around. Give him a sliced up apple, or a bowl of cereal,or a deli sandwich. Maybe he just doesn't (although it's odd) want junk food now.
