I'm not a woman, but I wanted to point out something. Diamonds are only scarce because of the monopoly diamond marketers have in place. I've heard that they're very common and would be very inexpensive if the monopoly were lifted. Nonetheless, peer pressure leads many women to desire those worthless pieces of carbon. I hope that when I get married my wife will understand this as I do. Good night!

It is according to how you feel about this girl and how she feels about you. A ring is a little serious, but a bracelet or necklace is fine as long as it is not to expensive. When you buy woman expensive gifts it usually is perceived by the woman as a serious relationship, unless you are really rich and throw money around to impress people. A ring to me is very serious, by boyfriend keeps wanting me to go pick out one, but I have only known him for a year and a half-- to soon. I think a simple bracelet or simple necklace is a sweet gift that any girl would like and read anything in to the gift. Hope this helped you. Merry Christmas!!

I'd rather have earrings or a necklace. I am very active, wash my hands several times a day, and I worry about losing a stone in a ring setting. I'm really rough on them.
I am not partial to diamonds as the main stone in most settings. I have moral issues with diamonds in general, and I refuse to buy them, and wouldnt' want them as a gift. (Google it, I'm not going to go into it here.) Her birthstone, or favorite color stone as a necklace or earrings or as a set, should be pretty easily found this time of year for pretty good prices.
Something unusual, like Tanzanite(light bluish purple-y color), or Tzavorite (A deep green garnet) might be nice. AMythest is a favorite of seveal women I know. Most of us like purple.
I wouldnt' go too large, look for something that would match her style. Does she like long dangling earrings? The "threader earrings" are nice. Usually on the casual side, but pretty and dangly.
Good luck, and I hope she likes what you get.

It depends on alot of things and circumstances...
Ring is more like a proposal. Necklace and matching bracelet and maybe throw in some matching earrings are nice gifts without the life long commitment!

I love necklaces. They don't get in the way like bracelets do, and they feel more personal than a ring (if it isn't an engagement ring).

Well, from my experience. Whenever i got a neckess, i would only wear it a couple times and eventually, forget about it. I think it's because it a "pain" to put on and off. Braclette and ring are the same for me. They are easy to put on. Most likley, i would vote a ring because it does not get in the way and if it's realy pretty, it's "noticable".....

If you are not married and you have no immediate intention on marrying someone, stay away from the ring idea. Personally, I like bracelets because they make noise when you write or type.

I would prefer a ring, if he is proposing me. I would like a necklace because it's close to my heart. but if I were to have a bracelet, I would like for my name and his name to be engraved on it.
