My kitty will only ever come near me, no one else in the house, and he will only come near me upstairs. and he doesn't like being affectionate when others are around other than me

If i pick him up downstairs, he tries to get away. But if i pick him up upstairs he doesn;t care a bit.
So is he shy of like other people seeing him being affectionate? or something?

i Also have another cat besides my baby kitty and she is very wierd also!! Cats are very protective about themselves and their owners only!!! Whenever others around besides the person it is used to, then the cat doesnt want to show affection, because it feels like it is opening its-self up to everyone, and cats are not like that!! Also when cats are in a high safe place and alone with just one person, sooner or later that cat is going to want attention, SO JUST GIVE YOUR CAT TIME AND YOUR CAT WILL WARM UP TO EVERYONE OR ELSE WILL ALLWAYS KEEP DOING THE SAME THING IT IS DOING!! GOOD LUCK!!

About the shyness:
Most cats prefer one-on-one time. I have 5, and only one is sociable to other people that come in the house. In fact - he's a little attention ham. If you would like your kitty to have more interaction with people that visit, keep a small stash of his favorite treat nearby so company can have access to it - It's very true when they say that when you feed a cat, you have a friend for life. This should help him warm up to other people rather quickly. However, you should remember that cats and other animals do have a 6th sense about people, if someone is giving off bad vibes, the cat will avoid them and there's nothing you can do about that.

About the kink in the tail:
My oldest cat, Ringo, also has a kink in his tail near the tip. It was caused when my friend's daughter slammed his tail in the screen dor by accident when he was a kitten. His tail was broken, but the vet didn't splint it or anything. I wouldn't worry about the kinky tail unless it is causing your kitty pain when you touch it.

Gem I took on an abused cat and this sounds very familiar. The strategy I followed is as such: 1. Get cat out from whatever unsuitable place she's hiding and stick her in a cat basket. A small stable place mean she'll feel safe even though you're near. I would also put her feeding bowls and toilet in the room so she doesn't have to run the gauntlet of human interaction to take care of her basic needs - when she feels safe taking care of those needs she is more likely to be adventurous. 2. Place cat basket in room where humans are less likely to go, but not entirely isolated (a study is good because it means that the humans won't be doing anything that might be scary and are more likely to be relaxed when they're in there). 3. Every time you are near cat basket (and subsequently cat) just talk to her in a calm relaxing voice. Interact with your other cats in her presence, but do not approach her at all. 4. She will start coming to you as she gets used to the idea that there is no threat (the other cats smell of you and they're still alive!) ;oP I eventually managed to get Kizzy sleeping on my bed and lap, but she was always a timid cat. To be fair, you have more chance of getting it right because your kitten is still young. Kizzy had been abused for 6 years, so even when she died at 18, she was still a little scaredy cat. Good luck, and don't worry, she'll come round in the end.

are you his first family? if kitty was adopted, he may have had a bad experience in the past. Otherwise, cats are like people - he may be shy or frightened. It will just take time - my cat spent almost all of his time under our tv table, until one day he came out and jumped on my lap. Cats are like kids, they just need to feel loved! Do your best to show affection, give him special treats when he does socialize. Ask a friend to help you out by coming over and just being in the same room. It may take some time, but he'll warm up eventually!

He's being a cat. Upstairs is home, under the bed or high in a closet when you have guests and when he is downstairs you are his no matter where you are. He is totally cat.

he may be scared of other noses or sites downstairs and as for the kink.. a lot of time kittens and dogs are born with that so i doubt it is broke but check it if he acts like it is sore then take him to your vet but other than that i think hes ok and just needs some time to get used to the downstairs

Your cat is fairly shy and only attatched to you. You make him feel safe, and he feels most safe upstairs. My cat is the same way. She doesn't really like anyone but me, and she doesn't like to be upstairs. She hids from anyone new.

He sounds shy to me. Maybe he suffers from separation anxiety from you got him. My cat is like that. Doesn't like her tummy rubbed, doesn't like male voices, other cats or other pets liked dogs. She's getting better on the male voices though. Maybe you should take her to your vet.

Maybe something unpleasant happened to it downstairs and it feels more secure upstairs, alone with you.
