My big furry cat loves boxes. She has squeezed herself into some pretty small ones and just lies their happy as can be. Is this a leftover instictive behavior from their wild ancestors?

Good question. My cat is the same way. She loves to be on top of boxes, or inside them-big or small. I don't know. I believe so. My cat loves it like it's her favorite new toy.

Oh my cat does that all the time. I think the sides of the boxes makes them feel secure

Maybe it makes them feel like they're in their mothers womb. Cats do a lot of things that remind them of being kittens. Like needing their paws which they do to get the mothers milk.

my cat does too, they like it to feel safe, and my cat is big n he always is in small boxes

probably. one of my cats like boxes while the other prefers to snuggle next to me.

yeah its for security purposes, i had a cat that did that but it was with paper and plastic bags

i dunno but i believe ur cat is telling u that it feels secure or that it's comfortable. there's no problem..lets cats do their thing its in their nature...believe me. if dogs did that it would b a different story.......
