well, it's tradition. Although some cultures wear it on the right hand. But it was believed by ancient egyptians to be the most direct path to the heart because of a vein that runs from your third finger on your left hand to your heart.

It's an american tradition that relates to the vein leading to your heart. In some other countries, like Cuba, it's tradition to wear your wedding ring on your third finger on your right hand. Some couple's don't wear rings at all. It's a decision you have to make for yourself.

Because it is the auricular finger. It is the finger that has the most direct connection to the heart via the arteries and veins! By the way, men wear the wedding ring or band on the same finger.

The choice of finger relates to traditions purportedly dating to classical times, from an early usage reportedly referring to the fourth finger of the left hand as containing the vena amoris or "vein of love".

You don't "have" to; I don't. I wear mine on my right hand; my husband is from Eastern Europe and that's the tradition there, so he asked me if I would. It's kind of nice to be different....

So I don't lose them. I tend to lose my right hand rings because I take them off to wipe my butt and I leave them in public restrooms.
