No fever? Probably just a cold. Get some Zicam nasal swabs, they will clear that up quickly.

In the first place after whats been going on around the Country with over the counter medicine I wouldn't take anything without a doctors order that I didn't know for sure.
When you go to the doctor, if he indeed says it's a cold and not allergies, four our of ten people that get treated for colds really have allergies, ask for Allegra D this will clear up a runny nose one way or the other.
If you have no fever, you may have a low grade off and on throughout the day and night, then take whatever your comfortable with like plain aspirin or Tylenol (fever) something light to ease the throat is simply "Hacks" cough drops will ease the raspy throat.

It's important to get some rest, you can't take meds and go charging around. Get rest, take plenty of liquids, for a couple of days, see what happens. Good luck
