There is absolutely no reason to get an elective circumcision. It is appropriate in the treatment of a specific genital problem for men, phimosis. The foreskin is one of the most sensitive parts of the male penis and is important in sexual function.
There are no health benefits to circumcision. It does not prevent nor cure any diseases.
There has been a lot of talk about female circumcision, termed genital mutilation, widely practiced in some African cultures. This has been decried as a barbaric practice by most of the civilized world. But because it is familiar, there is no such outcry against male circumcision, even though it to is disfiguring.

Circumcision
Cons - It hurts
Pros - Less chance of infections. From what I am told, but I haven't went out and checked on any statics.
Here is a link on the issue. I have already been snipped, so it doesn't really matter to me to research it. You can always cut the foreskin off, but you can't put it back. lol
