It could be that you're not drinking enough water, a kidney infection, or kidney stones. Kidney stones are extremely painful though, not just an ache, they are meant to be the closest pain to child birth! So I shouldn't imagine this is the cause. Are you getting any other symptoms? Does it sting when you pass water? Or are do you feel like you need to go a frequently but are then only passing a little bit? If so then it's probably an infection, you could ask your doctor to send off an MSU(mid-stream urine) sample to be on the safe side, the best advice though in any scenario is to drink water, water, water lol! You have my sympathy as I keep getting re-curring water infections, and my kidneys are hurting with it, and its not nice! Good luck

Could be a variety of things....
Alcohol in lg amounts or for days and days in a row.
Not drinking enough water could cause an infection, which would lead to a kidney Infection...
You should have a doctor take a look and run some blood tests.. because it could be serious, may run in the family, or could be nothing, but it is best to get it checked by a professional.
Don't wait too long, if it is serious and you wait, it could lead to worse things.
Good Luck!

There could be alot of reasons, so I would suggest you seek medical advice. Trying flushing your kidneys by drinking loads of water for a couple of days and see if that eases the ache. If not it could be something else which only your GP could diagnose.

Kidneys can also get infected with unprotected sex.
More likely its lack of water, too much alcohol or kidney stones.
Worth getting checked out for peace of mind.
