the world taekwondo federation,

I could give more details about them but I'm not a TKD student so let them get the 10 points.

WTF stands for World Tae Kwon Do Federation, it's the organization that first (if my memory serves me well on this issue) approached the Olympic committee to add Tae Kwon Do as a sport to be inducted into the Olympics

It's also one of the largest governing bodies in TKD that handles how the Martial Art is studied (each organization has their own ideals about how the curriculums of teaching TKD's techniques should be taught).

^^ fergalici...'s answer was so cute. lol i'm sorry for laughing at you, but if it makes you feel better i'm laughing with you. (laugh now and that statement would come true)

wtf is the World TaeKwonDo Federation. it is in charge of the olympic TaeKwonDo and you need a black belt ranking from them in order to try out for the olympics and other tourney by them. wtf was created when original creator of TaeKwonDo also taught in North Korea and this caused a political problem. wtf refused to reconize the creator as the creator, and went off to create a orginazation of it's own. the creator of TaeKwonDo went off to create his own orginazation itf international TaeKwonDo Federation.

personally i like itf better because of it's round based sparring it has, but itf recently, with the death of the creator, broke into pieces. (like Rome!~) oh well, in the end taekkyon is so much better anyway.

Edit: Hood said i'm wrong about itf and so i was about to research more into itf, but i didn't know what he said i was wrong about so i just desided to back up what i said with wiki. ^^ yay~ wiki~

"The International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) was founded in 1966 by Major General Choi Hong Hi six years before his exile from South Korea in 1972... His first visit of good will to North Korea was in 1980, when he introduced Taekwon-Do there. It is one the two major international Taekwon-Do organisations, the other being the public Olympic International Federation called World Taekwondo Federation or WTF... General Choi was the primary figure in the development of Taekwon-Do during the 20th century and headed meetings with the senior Taekwon-Do masters to unify a large number of the Korean martial arts schools under the name Taekwon-Do. He is also responsible for providing Taekwon-Do with its name which was agreed upon on April 11th, 1955."
just few facts i pulled up, read up more on it on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Taekwondo_Federation
and for wtf info
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Taekwondo_Federation

yeah, i was lazy and took everything from wiki, but i really don't want to go search everything right now~.

ps. itf round based sparring in North Korea video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJINTL2dGRA

WTF is the federation of TKD that you see in the olympics....

its also WTF because its "what the ****! you can't punch to the face in taekwondo!"

thats where the original WTF came from.... some guy on the computer watched a sorry excuse for a martial art and said "WTF is this?" then TKD picked it up.

LOL in all honesty though.... that guy above me couldn't be MORE wrong... look up ITF stud and dont confuse them... good lord... even TKD people dont know their own "history"
