I'm not praising myself.
My boastings are of the Lord, who works through me.
I'm nothing, without the Lord.
James 4:6 He giveth more grace (favors, blessings). Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
I desire receieving favors from the Lord, rather than for the Lord to be angry with me because of pride.
I want to be at peace with the Lord, rather than for the Lord to be mad at me.
Psalms 2:12 Kiss (make peace with) the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Pride is generally to be avoided, but there is also a good pride, such as the pride of being a Christian. But with it goes a lot of humility, the humility of owing it to God's grace and so forth.

I take pride in helping others and trying to be a good person. I know that when I teach my 18 month old neice a new word I feel pride that I am helping her in her life.

Not at all. I am a nobody. I am trying to learn more and more to serve as a lowest servant of the One True God in the Cause of Divine Unity, with real admiration for all other people in their own fields with their particular capabilities.
