Best - more hidden the better. Neckline, ankle, above heart, groin.

Worst - Right out in public. Arms, wrists, thighs.

I am a woman, and I have a BUNCH of tats (although I didn't get my first until I was 30.) I absolutely LOVE all of my tats, and they chronicle the many things I have been through during the years. I do believe that, especially on a female, tats that 'show' are potentially detrimental to future endeavors (i.e: employment interviews, future parents-in-law, etc.), so I strongly advise placing them where everyday clothing conceals them. (I have tats on the backs of both shoulders that are absolutely stunning when I wear a strappy tank or strapless dress, but are not noticeable in office-attire.) I didn't consider this previously, and my first tat was on the outside of my right ankle. There have been times when I regretted that placement when I needed to wear a dress and sandals (my grandfathers funeral, for example) so all the rest are stragecally placed so as to be easily covered with clothing. On a different note, my daughter had gotten a teenage-drunken-homemade tattoo on her inner forearm (OMG it was soooo ugly), so for her 22nd birthday I had a professional tattoo artist do a tasteful and lovely 'coverup' with a purple and black celtic butterfly. She loves it, and works now as a hostess in a high end restaraunt. Although it would have been better to have NO tats showing, the pretty professional job is much prefered to the homemade mess she had. Keep in mind that as a 'young woman' you really don't know what roads you will travel in your future, or what kind of presentation you will want to make... so keep your options open by keeping your pretty tattoos under wraps.

The absolute worst place for a tattoo on a YOUNG woman (I'm assuming early 20s) is anywhere near the hips or belly - that is only because if you decide to have a baby (I have my first one there and it's a mishapen star now) - your tattoo will stretch (with your skin) and if you don't regain your shape, your tattoo could really be distorted - the breasts are the next worst place to put a tattoo, can you imagine getting a rose or a heart over your breast and when you are in your 80s or 90s looking at a sagging rose or sagging heart.

The lower back is probably the prettiest place for a tattoo (that is where my next one will be), not only is it a nice spot but it's very pretty too - if you wear low riders or a bikini.

I think you should put it on your lower leg, not your hip. I see a lot of guys put it here and it looks good. On the hip I have also seen but I think its less attractive, of course if you're buff and like to go to the beach a lot (haha), that crowd would probably find it cool- if its a cool tattoo. Good luck with your tattoo and being an RN!

Speaking from personal experience (including the fact that I've had a child) I think some of the best places are; on the back of the neck, wrists, lower back and, depending on the tattoo, the arms.

If you're not planning on having children, or have already had your limit, a stomach tattoo would work. Either way you have to keep in mind that your stomach is one of the places on your body that can strech and contract the most.

I would avoid the ankle, chest, and butt. They're so white trash I hate those locations. Otherwise it also depends on the piece, what your comftorable with, and how well you take care of it.

I have tattoos myself, which I got at age 19. I am very very glad that I got them where not everyone can see them (along the very top of my thigh and on my back hip). They say that it hurts when there isn't a good fat pad under the area, like on the back of the shoulder.

Just remember that it's a permanent thing and even though strict dress codes are no longer the norm, there are people out there who will judge you based on having a visible tattoo.

How young is young??? Personally, I wouldn't suggest anyone that hasn't graduated high school to get one. It took me years to finally decide what I wanted and I totally would've regretted what I would've gotten in High School. I'm happy with my tats now cause they're not just some trendy thing I decided to do to be cool, but are actually symbolic of me.

Anywhere you want the tat to be is fine. This is a personal choice and not EVERY single person is going to like it no matter where you put it. Some people like my tats and some don't, it's whatever. I didn't get my tats to impress them, I got them for me.

If you want one on your forehead or your ***, I say go for it, even though I wouldn't get one there. It's whatever you're comfortable with.

it's less about the placement and more about the design and the quality of the actual tattoo. i have seen horrible tattoos and great tattoos and most of them have nothing to do with placement. tho a good tattoo artist can make a tattoo look great no matter where you put it. especially if they freehand the tattoo onto your skin.
but i love a large back tattoo and i hate breast tattoos (just my personal opinion)

There is no good and bad/best and worst places.

People get tattoos for themselves and because they want them. Placement is ultimately up to them and it at their discretion. I don't really think any place is bad if the tattoo is appropriate and fitting of the person.

On myself, the only place I would never get tattoos is my face.

As far as I am concerned why have a tattoo if no one can see it. I do believe that it is good idea to put it some place where it could be hidden if you needed to though.
