Yes. Everyone knows that a Christian is someone who believes Jesus is the Savior of mankind, and accepts the New Testament as holy writ. Certainly, Mormons fit into this category.

Well, it appears that some people are confused. Allow me to respond to just a few of these answers...

"Mormons believe that Jesus is only the son of God, so no, they would not be considered Christians." The New Testament repeatedly teaches that Jesus is the son of God. Does that mean that it is not used by Christians?

"Mormons don't believe in the deity of Jesus." Mormons believe that Jesus was the God of the Old Testament (Jehovah). Would that not classify him as a deity?

"Different Jesus." Mormons believe in the same Jesus described in the New Testament. Just because they believe he is literally the son of God and that he visited the American continent after his resurrection doesn't necessarily mean that Mormons believe in a different Jesus.

"To be a christian you have to accept Jesus as your lord and saviour. Believe that He died on the cross and rose again in three days." Mormons do this.

"The Nicene Creed." This statement was adopted nearly 300 years after Jesus died. The purpose of the council held at Nicaea in 325 AD was to resolve disagreements in the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was of the same or merely of similar substance as God the Father. Because they did not have any direct revelation from God at this time, the matter had to be voted upon. How different would things be today if the vote went the other way!

"To be a Christian you must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, he died for the sins of the world (including you). He was sinless, born of a virgin. He was crucified, buried and dead. On the third day he was raised from the dead." Mormons do this, too.

No, Mormons are not Christians. They changed the Bible and wrote their own book on how to live when the Bible already does that. You need to believe in Christ, know that he is the Savior of the world and trust him as your Savior. You also need to ask him to forgive your sins and ask him into your heart. Read the Bible for more info and maybe visit a church(Baptist, Presbyterian, Wesleyan, Evangelical) these are the best. Christianity is a wonderful thing because you can have eternal life. Being a Christian is not easy, though, but it is worth it all. There is some good music out there also, try the Newsboys, dc Talk, Third Day, people like that. I hope this helped you and I wish you luck.

For some really good messages go to iTunes, click on podcasts, type in Crossroads(at the top right of the screen) and select Crossroads Worship in Knoxville, Tennessee. The preacher is named Greg Pickner and he is wonderful. Give it a try.

Yes they are Christians by definition. Christian is any person that believes that Jesus Christ is the savior. Remember that Christianity is a whole world of beliefs as is Islamism or Brahmanism or Judaism themselves are.

Differences between Mormons and other Christian churches (Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Presbiterians, Adventists, Jehova Witnesses, etc., - ) are the book in which they based their rituals and the way they envision the belief in Christ.

Good luck!

Of course Mormons are chrstians! All you need to do to be a christian is believe in God and his son, Jesus (Christ isn't his last name, it comes from the greek word christos meaning saviour) so I don't see how anyone can say they aren't christians. I mean I know people who think the Bahá'í are christians, and mormonism seems more like christianity than Bahá'í .

Many mormons think they are Christians. They really aren't if they truly knew what christianity is. First to be a christian you have to accept Jesus as your lord and saviour. Believe that He died on the cross and rose again in three days. Anyways im not sure exactly what mormons believe, but many of their beliefs are in complete contradiction of the bible.

Since all the "christians" are saying I - a Mormon - am not Christian and believe in a different "god" and "Jesus" than they do...well then I guess I don't want to be "christian" in their definition because they must not believe in the same "God and Jesus". To quote a song: "I know who I am, I know God's plan, I'll follow in His ways. I believe in the Savior Jesus Christ, I'll honor His name. I'll do what is right, I'll follow His light, His truth I will proclaim."
I know I am a "Christian" even if not in their eyes but that's ok.

Mormon's don't believe in the deity of Jesus, also that God the Father was once a man, and that any man can become a god, and that God lives on a planet called Kolab. They also used to believe that blacks were the cursed race until the 1970s. They also were given their doctrine from the angel Moroni.... yup. Interesting stuff.

3) Hate everyone who is not like you

4) Profess the love of god, just before you spew hate against gays.

That's just for starters...

Mormons is a religion. Christianity is Christ and it will never be a religion because religion is traditional, man-made concepts of who God is and not the truth.
