Considering this is the same kind of talk the Romans and every civilization has had since, I do not think anyone knows when anything will happen. Every prophet has forecasted the end to occur well after they have died and none of them have been right so far. It will take a huge meteorite or a super volcano eruption like the one in Yellowstone National Park to end civilization and that is still iffy. The only definite thing to end it all is when the sun gets too hot and starts to fry the earth. However, that will not happen for a billion or two years and who knows if we could be advanced enough by then to find another planet to inhabit.

I don't think that our civilization will cruble and fall. Although I do believe that it will evolve into a more sustainable civilization. This may be through necessity, like due to environmental issues or war. But, we humans are a lot tougher than we are given credit for. Now, civilization may crumble as we know it, but in the end we will be fine.
Although the population might take a big drop

According to the Aztec calender(which has been proven accurate) the end of civilization is in 2012.
Now in relation to actual civilisation, lets go back to its roots.
The word "civilization" comes from the Latin word for townsman or citizen, civis, and its adjectival form, civilis. To be "civilised" essentially meant being a townsman, governed by the constitution and legal statutes of that community.
So would the question be, How soon until there is no governing body to lead humanity? I'd say that with the way our government is going, there will be no choice but to follow. I think that people have lost their passion for freedom. They are comfortable so they feel no need to change. In other countries we have tried to "help" them with our own agendas in mind. But again they aren't fighting for peace. they are fighting so that they can have a different ruler. I think it will be some time before people start realising that a democracy is about the people and not what the president decides for you.
On an environmental note, ecosystems are being changed by global warming. With ice melting in certain areas and temperatures rising, these changes are sufficient enough to kill of a species. Also with the melting ice will make thermal expansion take place and flood out cities and villages that are built on the coastlines. Diseases have also began to spread because of global warming. One of the largest known outbreaks of Vibrio parahaemolyticus gastroenteritis has been attributed to generally rising ocean temperature where infected oysters were harvested in Prince William Sound, Alaska in 2005. A warmer environment boosts the reproduction rate of mosquitoes and the number of blood meals they take, prolongs their breeding season, and shortens the maturation period for the microbes they disperse. West Nile Virus anyone?
I think that we will kill ourselves off by polluting the environment before the world turns anarchy.

Hmmmm That's a tough one to call politically or culturally. Even with nuclear war, some one some where will most likely find a way to survive. Life is fragile, yet resilient.
I say we don't see the year 3000 due to complete ecological breakdown. I know it's conservative, but necessity is the mother of invention. Technology will be our savior for a few hundred years, then we will simply run out of resources to use. What do you do when you have harnessed the power of any form of matter and there is no matter left to use?

Civilization does not crumble and fall, it waxes and wanes, look at the Maya, Inca, Native Americans, Mongols, Romans, Africans, Macedonians, Carthaginians. Every single group of people had vast empires, yet many people died and the empires fell, some rose in their place. Civilization cannot fully die out unless you fight every day and calamities encircle the earth.

At the rate we're all going, really soon. According to the Aztecs, there will be a great tragedy in 2012, but everything after that is going to be better. So basically, the human race and our world is going to reset and hopefully we all learn from our past mistakes.

that 2012 mayan calendar thing does not mean the earth is going to come to an end, it just marks one revolution in the mayan cycle. Dont get your hopes up for the world coming to an end soon. We'll figure it out.

Fool! You're just like those dumbasses in the year 1000 who thought the world was going to end! Same thing with the year 2000! It just goes to show that people are people and are stupid no matter what century they are in.

I think we are getting really close to a political change. The cycle of governments usually lasts for 400ish years and we are on that mark. I'd say 2025.

Civilization will not crumble, but adapt as needed assuming no catastrophic global annihilation event. It likely won't resemble anything we have today in 100 years.
