I keep the litter box in the basement, she pees in it, but poops outside of it ,only around the litter box. Its on a tile floor--I've cleaned the floor area with bleach---and I've tried using two litter boxes to no avail. I use good clumping litter and clean it every day. Any suggestions?

Be sure the litter box is large, they don't like to try and hit a small target. Be sure you not only shovel out the the waste but replace the litter boxes with a new box about every two weeks. They aren't expensive and it wouldn't be that much of an inconvenience. Also, be sure the litter doesn't cause a lot of dust when she digs and it's not too scented. Using 1 litter box more than cats that use is is a very good idea.

I would try getting a litter maid if this cat is a clean freak. You can also try switching the litters to see if she prefers something else.

I had some success with Cat Attract. For some reason cats really enjoy using the litter box when I used that litter. I found it at Pet Smart

How large is the litter box?? It may not be the proper size for her to comfortably use it (depending on the size of your cat). But as you pointed out, she is peeing in it though. My other suggestion--try a different type of litter..if cat's don't like the way it feels beneath their paws they're likely to simply refuse to use their box. It's fustrating, but part of life with a cat. :) Let me know how things work out for you!

Try placing your cat in the litter box a little bit after she eats. do it a coupple of times than she might get use to it.

you should try using unscented litter sometimes they don't like to have to kick it and smell the odor of the litter.

don't you let her out of the house? Maybe she just thinks she is above the potty but then gets desperate and poos around it.
