One would hope that if there was a god, he would value the fact that some people honestly seek the truth about him, rather than rely on what other people have SAID he is...

Well it may be more logical to study it, but the nature of "faith" kind of perishes when you treat religion as some academic study. Interestingly Paul (a very intelligent guy himself) wrote that God would use the foolish things of this world to shame the wise, because people who understand Christianity through faith have a better grasp on it than people just use intellect to try to understand it. Like anything you study, your heart needs to be into it. I like history, and I understand history well because I love it. I am not interested in science, so I understand it very little. In the same way, if you study Christianity without a fond appreciation or love for it, you wont get back, whether it be joy or understanding - you wont find it. Before I thoughly studied American history, for example, I could picture in my mind what it must have been like, but after I studied, and still today, I can't even get into my head the idea that people such as Winthrop, Penn, Washington and Jefferson were on this earth and did the things they did. It just seems so distant and foreign after I studied it. Similarly, if you treat religion the same way you might find yourself growing more distant and cold.
I remember a quote by Jesus, something to the effect of, "If you are blind, I will make you see. And if you can see, I will make you blind". What I think it means is that people who come by faith will practically be blind, but they will truly see the truth. However, people who think their eyes are open and study, ponder, study and ponder some more, they can only find the truth by becoming blind.
I like that about Christianity, I don't know any other religion that says, "If you want to enter this religion, you must be foolish and blind, then you will see". Combined with that quote by Paul and Jesus, that is literally what the Bible says. So when people attack Christians as being blind, brainwashed, and ignorant.... Well we are supposed to be that way, it is the only way the truth can be seen apparently.

No, because ancient dogma is supposed to be used for experimentation, for after all, even the Cahtolic Church would not have its rituals if the dogma was rigid at all. To "blindly accept ancient dogma" is to oppose dogma in the first place, for the faith it is based on must be renewed. dogma has to be renewed or else the faith woulld die. After all, faith withou works is dead. Again, to try something new is to adhere to dogma while to accept dogma without question is utter betrayl since dogma does not last forever. Have peace in your heart so that you will live to be a better person.

Definitely. One should know Why they believe in the things they do... instead of "Just because..." or to avoid punishment (which just seems to be really lame to me...) I find people who question and study these things are a lot more tolerable and tolerant than those who grab a hold of something because a friend said it was the Truth. No one considers they could be wrong and it makes it very hard to discuss the concepts with people who feel they are 100% right.

Of course! There's never anything wrong with using your head to think before blindly accepting anything... some people put more thought into what car to buy than in what philosophy they will dedicate their life to.

Well, yeah, maybe, at least for a while. But eventually you will have to trust something that was recorded before you were born. Then what-if it happened before you were born and you did not witness it-then it matters not if it happened 30 years ago or 4000 years ago. You will have to take someone elses word for it. It will be better if you begin to learn who you can trust!

yes, but eventually you want to come to some conclusion. Studying and questioning does not mean rejecting out of hand just because it touches on the supernatural. But Jesus said "seek and you shall find". He didn't say "Blindly accept what religious teachers tell you and you shall find".

If you have the truth and want people to know the truth, then you openly encourage people to question and probe. The nature of truth is that it always withstands analysis intact. There is no reason for insistence on blind faith in a truth, unless of course that 'truth' won't withstand scrutiny and is therefore not a truth at all.

Admirable to who?
I do believe it should be the goal of all to seek absolute truth, things that are not changeabel or variable. True science will do this without bias of their beliefs or what they don't want to believe.

Aye. Making an effort and working towards something is always more admirable than sitting back and doing nothing.
