Psychotherapy, which is what you mean, is very helpful to a lot of people. Physically, you can learn to relax and enjoy life more, lowering your blood pressure and anxiety levels. Emotionally, you can fight depression. Socially, you learn how to interact with others better.
Try it, you can always stop it if it doesn't work for you, or you can switch therapists if one isn't effective.
