GonnaCmyNameinLight's,

I know he does. BUT CAN HOLY WATER CURE ANYTHING?

2006-12-13 08:40:37 · update #1

Neptune,

I respect and appreciate water for what it is; and am even thankful for it. But isn't it WHAT IT IS, not matter what I "believe" it to be?

Out of due respect, I'm not blasting christianity, on this dogma that is not even in your own bible.

not really. The bible doesn't say it can, i've never been proven otherwise there, and i've never seen it cure anything.

Consider it another attempt to gain more power by the catholic church.

By the way, hating religion is the very reason i came to Christ, personally

Water from Lourdes, in France, where it is said that Mary appeared to ST. Bernadette, has been attributed to be the cause of many miracles, including restoring sight to a blind girl who had no irises.
Holy water does have an affect on some people. My friend was at a wedding (Catholic) and the priest sprinkled holy water on the food to bless it. Two guests were members of the occult, and began throwing up upon eating the food.

Holy or Blessed water is called a Sacramental which means that it imparts the applied blessing to whomever is blessed with it, and it can and has cured illness for example as in the many recorded cases at Lourdes, it is most useful to ward of the presence of evil spirits and of course is mainly used in Baptisms.

In hoodooism, holy water is an important ritual ingredient, but it can't "cure" everything. It's used as an offering or in a wash at times to bring blessing.

Sacramentals like holy water do not "cure". God cures. But sacramentals can be used by God to confer grace, as when ordinary water is used to baptize a person. Or when pieces of cloth that Peter had touched were brought to sick people, who were healed when they touched them.

If it is sterilized you can add a bit of salt to it, and put some in your stuffy nose. Also you can use it to clean yor eyes. But be sure it has been sterilized.
No water is any holier than any other water.

Water is Holy only if you believe it to be so, but when you think of how important it is to all species, that makes it pretty holy to me.

Holy water is not water with special powers it is blessed is the only reason it is holy.. you can take water from the toilet have it blessed and it becomes holy water.. (however that would be gross).
