What is the best way to get a family member out of your house that won't do anything for themselves?

Give them the ultimatum..."you've got 2 weeks to XXX or you will need to find another place to live". Then follow though and don't take any excuses. If, in the set period of time they have not satisfied your ultimatum, help them pack their stuff.

That can get pretty sticky. Give them a deadline - they have to be out by a certain date. If they're not, pack their stuff up, put it on the lawn or driveway, and change the locks. Truthfully though, before you do that you might want to check with a lawyer. I'm not sure what you mean by not doing anything for themselves but if it involves cooking, cleaning, or laundry stop doing any of that for them. If you can eat out and not buy groceries, do it. And for heaven sakes, make sure they do not have access to your checking or credit accounts.

Change the locks when they leave, set their stuff out with a note telling them that you are through providing for them. Tell them it's time you stepped into the real world! Good luck!

sorry you didn't give enough information to answer that question, if it is an adult tell them they have to start helping financially, physically with in one week or they can find more suitable accommodations , and do not back down, put them to the curb

if they are paying rent then you have to give them like a 30 day notice that you want them to leave, but if not try tough love. tell them that they aren't paying on anything so they have to go.

Dont do anything for them at all, Dont buy food for them dont cook or wash for them, dont make anything available to them. Explain to them YOUR HOUSE, YOUR RULES! shape up or ship out. Or you could simply ask
