Eph 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. 19 And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

I would take it as: Allowing the Holy Spirt to enter into your prayers/thoughts, as the Spirit knows what will you ask before doing so. God wants you to speak bodly, the Gospel of Christ.
Perserverance in prayer is a must. God sometimes says No, not now, or yes. He WILL answer your prayers, in HIS time, not yours. I tend to forget that.
I have a verse in my daily book that states: Prayer changes all, prayer recreates, prayer is irrestitable.
Another one of my favourites: "Try to realize that your own prayers are being answered. Answered in a way that seems painful to you, but tht just now is the only way."

Okay....until you have the teachings from the Gospels down pat, avoid the letters.

Read and obey what Jesus says about prayer, to whit, do it privately, away from everyone else; do it knowing that God knows what is in your heart and is ready to answer your desire/ request, but you have to put it into words so that you may come to understand fully what you want or need; if you don't know what to say, use the "Lord's Prayer".

If reading the words of Jesus doesn't help you much, search for a series of books with titles like "Praying for Prosperity" (I can't rmember the actual titles or authors names at this point, but this goes much more into depth how and why prayer works), in particular they say to pray knowing that God loves you and always wants you to have the best, and to put your prayer for a situation or a thing into the present tense, as if you were thanking God for the situation coming about now or the thing being in your possession now.
Make sure to Love God, Ask God, AND Thank God.

For the believer, prayer is simply communication with God. You don't need some set formula, or some super spiritual words. God desires you to just open your heart to Him, He knows what's there anyway. Bring to Him your praise, worship, thanksgiving, and requests. Just be open, transparent and honest before Him.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest not being able to sympathize with our weaknesses but One having been tried in all respects according to our likeness, apart from sin.
Heb 4:16 Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and we may find grace for timely help.

If you are an unbeliever and not of the elect, you are considered an enemy of God and your prayers will not be heard.

The Bible also says to go into a closet (or be in private to pray),
All I can tell you is to speak to a clergy person or persons. I myself think any type of meditation is a form of praying.
