A form is used for capturing data (input) whereas a report is used for displaying data (output)

When you edit a form you limit what data is captured/updated to corresponding tables etc and as a result this will limit what can appear on a report.

When you edit a report you do not control what data is captured/updated to corresponding tables etc but you can control what is displayed on a report.

If you have not captured the data (using forms) you will not be able to display (using reports) the omitted information. If you have captured the data (using forms) that information will still be available for other reports etc.

Hope this helps. ;)

Editing a form changes how the data is displayed, or handled on screen.

Editing the report, simply changes how it's printed out.

A form in access is usually locked because Access is a database and you usually only edit the form if you want to delete or add fields to the form.

A report is usually typed in a word processing program such as MSWord and can be edited at will. good luck
