My fiancee and I are giong to get married and want to involve our godparents. Are there any specific roles or special positions that these people can fill in the wedding so that we can honor them in our ceremony?

I am not aware of any official requirements or responsibilities. That said, there are several ways you can involve someone very dear to you in the ceremony.

The first two off the top of my head are doing a reading or bringing up the gifts. Oh and another one - maybe read the petitions/prayers of the faithful.

Let us assume the bride walks up the aisle with her father. Maybe someone can walk the mother of the bride to her seat.

Lots more I'm sure.

You can have them do a special reading, separate from the two that are in the service to begin with...they can do toast at the reception...which really isn't part of the service...but as far as actully being a part of it, this would be a nice way to include them!

You could always have them do the readings for the mass. I am having my god father and my mother do the readings at mine. That might be a special way to honor them.

They could do readings, or do a candle lighting -- or just have them speak or do something at the reception.
