You don't mention how old you are. I had a similar freak-out in my late 20s. It lasted for 6 months or so.
What helped me was facing my fears. Instead of "worrying vaguely" about death, I looked at "what about death frightens me." For me it was a few things. I had to examine my religious belief system. Rather than WORRY about "do i have the right god" I researched it to find out. "What do the critics say? What do the supporters say?" You may be like me and find this to be good therapy. That you are doing something to examine your fear rather than simply being captive to it.

I symphatize your thoughts and admire your courage to bring this out in this forum. I, too, have had this fear once in a while. But then I thought I have this belief that has lots to do with karma and reincarnation that fit well with the spiritual system, all I need to do is pump lots of faith into it. It really doesn't make sense that life would just be terminated after death, that it is impossible to understand God and yourself in just one life time, that hell is eternal, that all religions claiming to be the true one. I think something out there is waiting for us to come home to the place where we originally belong before we became individuals. Hang on to your faith. It's the only thing we got and depend upon after our physical death.

The way to know that you will be in heaven or not, is not if priest is a good person or not. It is not even if you are a good person or not, because no one apart from God is righteous. It also is not a question of a religion, it is a question of a relationship. That relationship is with Jesus. If you have accepted Christ as your Savior and Lord you can know beyond any doubt. "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. Whosoever believes on Him shall have everlasting life". Remember Jesus is the only way to Heaven. God may be using your "thoughts and fears of dying" to draw you to the truth.

Please read the Holy Bible.(preferably a study Bible) It will take a while, and you may not understand it all. After you finish reading, go to a church of your choice. (Not Jehova Witness nor Mormon, both are cults). I am baptist, but find a church that has people your age group that you can discuss things with. I don't recommend the catholic church, only because YOU can have a personal relationship with God, not THROUGH a priest, but between yourself and Jesus Christ.

you must do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. no matter what your personal Religious Beliefs are remember GOD is to big to be in only one place and the only basic differences in one Religion and another are the NAMES they refer to GOD as along with the differences in the Rituals and Ceremonies which they use to Adore, Honor, Worship, Pray to and Petition, Thank, Etc. Etc. GOD. all that is born must die and eventually all of us will go to another plane of existence where we will fulfill the destiny of our race. if Death still frightens you, please check with either your family minister priest or rabbi or family doctor.

Begin reading the Bible for yourself for starters, Honey. Never take the word of anyone, (mine included) about your eternal destiny. I grew up in the catholic church for 28yrs, and I thank God, that after I started reading the Bible and comparing it to what the catholics taught, (I'm sorry, but it's true), that I was able to finally see the light of the TRUE Gospel message; nothing added; nothing taken away. I personally think God must be trying to get your attention; to remind you that we DO have to meet Him one day, and we need to be prepared.
God bless you. Email me if you'd like to talk further.

there is only one god for us all, and we should not fear dying, we go to a better place, where there is no pain, hurt, or any of the fears we have here on earth. it isn't about religion, its about believing in jesus christ. and accepting him for what he did, as the only way to the father is through the son. all u have to do is open your bible, study his word, and his will for your life, and live by the word, and fear not. live your life without fear and know that there is a hereafter, and it is better than what we have here on earth. study his word, get to know him, that's the only way you will rid yourself of what u fear.

Death is inevitable, live righteously to ensure eternal life. Fear not death but where you'll be after death.
Jesus is the truth, the way and the life!

No on the two counts. i do no longer comprehend the place i replaced into previously i replaced into born and have no worry of that, so i'm no longer afraid to pass their back after loss of existence, and that i believe like i'm an previous soul, so whether I lived an "unlived existence", my existence and soul might nevertheless finally sense very complete...

Deuteronomy 30:19
I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against YOU today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring
