I think it's more about living responsibly. There are always things we can do better, for ourselves and for others. Can we change the world? Nah, but we can do our little part.
As for climate? Yes, we mostly just have to adapt. We won't be able to do much on a large scale. It can't hurt to do things that are good for the local ecology in the meantime, though.

Do not listen to the other people that answered your question so far... while trying to reduce pollution is a good thing, there is much more to the debate then most people realize.
Ill write to you what I wrote to Leonardo (because he will never see it). Here it is...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naturally, a famous Hollywood actor would pose this (loaded) question.
It's really sad that I have to point this out, but the Global warming theory IS NOT scientific fact. One only has to do a simple Google search or go to wikipedia to find countless sources on the still ongoing debate.
The simple argument against Global Warming goes like this... we simply do not have the data or records to prove that "greenhouse gases" have any real significant effect on the world's climate. Observed changes over the recent years could be the result of cyclic worldwide climate changes (think ice age). Simply put, how do we not know that the world is just on the upswing coming out of an "Ice age"?
Of course, due to media hype (like this)... Global Warming is more or less taken as fact.
That said, I really don't have a problem with people trying to reduce the emission of gases that may or may not be harmful (better safe than sorry, right?)
However, the problem with the Global Warming issue is that it is being used by detractors of the United States (through the nebulous UN) as a political issue (Kyoto).
Why is it that the leaders of the United States are chastised for refusing to enter into an international agreement that would very likely negatively affect our economy?
Does anyone seriously believe that a nation like China would have entered into the agreement if it was expected to reduce anything?
To Leonardo (or more than likely, one of his publicist or staff):
Why not break away from the countless Hollywood myrmidons and be original? How about bringing light to a REAL cause like countless suffering North Koreans, or maybe the sad plight of Christians living in Islamofacist nations in the Middle East (yes they do exist), or maybe GOD FORBID... doing a USO tour in Iraq.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope this helps you expand your research on the topic.

Come now .... Evolution is a theory ... not scientific fact .... but it is taught in schools none the less. The reality is that most science is based up on theory. Theory is backed up by data. Our understanding of gravity, electromagnetism, all the forces in nature are THEORIES.
This does not mean they are not true.
FACT: The globe is getting warmer.
FACT: The trend has increased since the industrial revolution, and more so in the last 30 or so years.
FACT: This is directly related to the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Contributions are both natural, and man made. Man is contributing more than his share, and the natural cycles are being disrupted because of it.
The DATA is factual. The interpretations of the data may be openn to debate ....but let's not be silly. You might not like the conclusions...but it is what it is.
On to your question. MAN HAS ALWAYS SOUGHT TO CONTROL HIS ENVIRONMENT. Why stop when the stakes are so high now?
It is one of the things that sets us apart from the other animals on this planet.
We SHOULD try to save and preserve our home for our children and their children.
Period.

That's the point. The world isn't changing naturally. As we dump billions of tons of carbon and methane into the atmosphere each year it warms. This is not natural but rather a man-made phenomenon. Because these changes can, and are, causing catastrophic changes a wise person would recognize the problem and, not try to change what God has made but rather, stop changing it.
Would you park your car inside your house with the engine running? I think not. Then why do we think that the car's exhaust isn't harming anything outdoors.

I honestly hope you are in school. The way we live in the world today is killing the earth. Things aren't supposed to warm up this fast. Yes, there is such a thing as naturally doing what it is supposed to. It's kind of hard to do that when our ozone is being destroyed on a daily basis. There are hardly any trees left anymore that is over 100 years old and the dirt isn't making strong soil like it used to do. The climate change is a warning to let us know that we have messed up this would and we can either fix it, or do nothing about it. You can either join in or sit back and let it all crumble around you. We need to preserve this earth for future generations. Try to focus on the other people in this world instead of just yourself.

If you look at the stats for the way the world has naturally changed over the years it shows a very similar pattern. If you look at how the world has changed over the last 15years you will see a dramatic change in stats and those are caused by people. That is why we are so desperate to make changes now to fix what we have destroyed because we have thrown the planet out of whack!

If you really care about the environment, you have to go vegetarian. Meat production causes extensive pollution and is a huge drain on our resources. It even causes more pollution than these SUVs people always complain about. It is also easy to become meat free and much kinder to animals. Meat is no longer needed as a food source as many other kinder options exist. In fact, most meat sold today is in the form of stuff like hamburgers and hot dogs and is bad for your health. The only real reason to eat meat is for entertainment and the animals pay the price for our entertainment as they are abused and slaughtered. It is hypocritical to say you care about the environment and love animals while eating meat.

Grace Unto You And Peace,
The Beloveds Teach
that we are stewards of that which has been created for us.
Henry David Thoreau taught this....
Lev Tolstoy taught this....
Bapuge taught this....
Doctor Martin Luther King Junior taught this...
Nelson Mandela teaches this.
As does the priest in my congregation.
As stewards when we sin we are responsbile to: confess, repent, and do restitution.
Nations must be held to the same standards.
We have sinned against God by dirty-ing the earth. {I have done this.}
We confess: We have done this! {I have done this}
We repent. We am sorry! {I have done this.}
We do resititution. We are held to restore the earth to a more cleaner condition. {I am trying to do this}
Heretics disagree with these claims of love.
They prefer to hate:
through ignorance,
through literalism,
through inaction.
Are there enough believers who love to make up the difference?
I do not know.
May "That Which Is' have mercy upon us.
Agape, kiitos, shalom, ja Xie Xie,
Don as "Tauno"

I agree with you for the adapting and world changing on its own but global warming has been happening and pollution contributed to it and people are trying to change that.

in case you do not believe in climate replace, then let me spin it to you this manner. i imagine we would want to continually attempt to get off of our dependence (habit?) to grease because we are funding the realm of the international that condones and encourages terrorism. We also do not favor to initiate drilling contained in the Arctic or in Alaska for oil, because all of us comprehend for a incontrovertible reality that it ruins our surroundings. integrate those information with my own annoyance and hatred of paying an astronomical quantity of money at a gasoline station a pair of times a week. those 3 issues recommend that i'm eager to locate an decision vehicle and am praying for a cheap electric powered vehicle!
