I know this is probably a dumb question, but it has become a serious issue with me. Recently a neighbor has demanded money for vet bills because she claims my cat knocked up her cat. I told her that my Larry doesn't do those things and that she must have the wrong guy, but she insisted and threatended to sue, which is when I told her I wouldn't pay a dime until I saw a paternity test. When I talked to Larry about this his face just told me that he's innocent! How are these things handled legally? Is there any way to legally find out who the father is? BTW, because of this scare Larry went to the vet and is now half the man he used to be, but what do I do about this potential lawsuit?

I actually saw a similar case on Judge Judy involving dogs. DNA paternity tests are available for animals. However, the burden of proof will be on the person that sues you. He will have to prove that your cat was in their property and got their cat pregnant. It could have been their cat coming over and messing up with yours. That will be hard to prove. Let her sue you, she will loose!

Assuming this isn't some stupid story you made up - if your neighbor wants to go to the expense of a test one can be done I'm sure, but it would cost her more than it would be worth. Also, if she was letting her female cat run loose while in heat what the h--- did she think would happen? She's more to blame than you or Larry. Plus, since cats have multiple births (hence the term litter) there could be multiple fathers. Tell her to get her cat fixed.

confident, creationists do use paternity tests if mandatory. Creationists are no longer anti-technology and anti-DNA. Creationists look at technology in simple terms like evolutionists, yet see a distinctive attitude. i'm unlikely to pass into the professional-evolution or professional-introduction concern... i'm in basic terms pointing out that Creationists are professional-technology and medical technique. DNA and DNA finding out are efficient in fixing crimes, figuring out genetic features and tendencies, and figuring out relatives contributors. Creationists help all of those measures. If mandatory, they'll use them. back to why creationists are against premarital intercourse and professional-monogomy. Creationists often define their ideals by using a ethical code (maximum often, the Bible or Qu'ran). The Bible, to illustrate, dictates that intercourse must be a prepare that happens purely in marriage, no longer previously and not after divorce. it would purely be between a guy and a woman. The Bible additionally helps the assumption of monogomy. they believe that monogomy and intercourse interior of marriage make healthful, good relationships. It enables safeguard against STD's, unintended being pregnant, and all the drama that would ensue from dissimilar toddler mama's/daddy's. Are Creationists against paternity tests? No. Do they use them? If mandatory, yet greater desirable than probably they gained't would desire to just about as often as different communities.

Impossible to tell if it's your cat that impregnated hers or not.

A cat can have a litter of kittens and it can be from one or more fathers.

Glad to hear Larry will now be shooting blanks. But you may want to tell your neighbor to do the same thing with her slutty cat (lol, just kidding). She can have her spayed and not worry about any more babies.

In most jurisdictions, cats are considered wild animals and I cannot imagine a court holding you responsible for the vet bills. You should both get your cats fixed. Besides, weren't the both consenting adults? LOL!

Are you freaking kidding me??? Not about your question, but about that crazy lady. If she didnt want her cat to get knocked up then she shouldnt have been letting her outside when she was obviously in heat. There was no contract signed between the two of you, nothing saying that you two are breading these cats, therefore she will get thrown out of court. HELLLLLLLLLLLO! OMG this lady is INSANE! I would laugh at her. Not only that, but female cats can have MULTIPLE "sperm donors"!!

I am curious as to what vet bills can be incurred... Did the cat have to have a c-section??? Normally, they can just easily push them out.. I am confused.. Unless she's trying to get you to pay for spaying.....

she will have the burden of proof in court. Can she prove your cat was in her cats yard/area? Can she prove it was your cat? I highly doubt she can.

You should let her sue you, go to court, and laugh when the court tells her she has insufficient evidence to get a verdict against you.

Get a lawyer. I would be upset to find a judge who wouldn't laugh this ***** right out of courtroom. They are cats, and she is just as responsible for letting her unfixed cat as you are.

the above poster is correct..she has to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that not only is your cat the "father" but also that you were negligent..she will have a hard time proving her case if she allowed her cat to run loose and did not have it spayed.
