Everyday, Ariel goes to the bay to collect seashells. She is collecting them to make necklaces for the ball guests. 9 shells make one necklace. Ariel has 314 shells so far. But, Ursula accidently broke 32 shells in half. Will she have enough shells to make 64 necklaces? 125 necklaces?

She had 314 -- but 32 are broken. That leaves 282 unbroken shells.

If she needs nine per necklace, that means she has enough to make 31 -- with three shells left over.

I have no idea if she will be able to make 64 or 125 necklaces -- because I don't know when the ball is and don't know how many seashells she can find per day.

Yea. I think what it means is that ariel has 314, but ursula broke 32 of em in half. Breaking 32 shells in half is the same as saying she broke half of 32. Half of 32 is 32 divided by 2, or 16. because ursula broke 16, ariel doesnt rly have 314, but she has 314 - 16, or 298. You need 9 shels to make a necklace, so in order to find out how many necklaces you can make with 298 shells, you would find out how many times 9 goes into 298, or 298 divided by 9 which equals about 33.1. so that means that she can make 33.1 necklaces. At least I think. idk. I might be completely off

Yes, it makes sense. You can come up with an answer if you do the math.
