I am 22 and was interested in joining possibly the Air Force, Coast Guard or Navy and was unsure if my past ACL reconstruction could keep me from being eligible. I don't know much about the military nor did I ever think I would consider it as an option! But here I am.

The only people that can qualify or disqualify you are the MEPS (Military Entrance Physical Station) personnel. You do need to get some paperwork from your doctor describing the nature of the injury and how you have recovered. Also have him/her include an opinion of whether he believes you are well enough to join the military. The more you can cover yourself with this, the better your chances of swearing in.

If you are turned down for the service you want, talk to the guys from the other services if you like. Some services are more picky about things that other services are not.

We are a nation at war, and for you to still be willing to join, that shows a lot of character. Good luck, and hats off to you for at least trying to join.

As long as you tell MEPS and your recruiter about it and are able to pass the physical. Then It shouldnt be a problem, they might have to get you a waiver to enlist, but thats really it. Talk to a recruiter, they'll let you know.
