the doctor will give you a screen to pee through so you can catch the stone. when the pain is gone, often you have passed it. the pain will last until the inflammation resides.

You should have a strainer to strain ALL of your urine so you know when the stone has passed. If you don't have a strainer call your docs office hospital to see if you can get one. Strain all your urine and once you pass the stone your urologist will want to send it to the lab for testing to see what type of stone it is. Once you pass the stone you should not feel any pain only huge relief.

you feel pain whenever the stone moves down in the ureter. Once the stone falls into the bladder, you should have no pain. The more water you drink the faster the stone will move, and the easier it will be to pee it out.
