I'd download Limewire Pro here:
http://digg.com/software/Free_LimeWire_PRO_Download
There are fewer viruses and also, more and quicker results if you use the Pro version.
The best thing to do when using Limewire is to make sure you take notice of the file type and size. Things may promise to be a particular song or movie, but actually be something different.
If you want a song you obviously want an .mp3 file and if you want a movie the best to download is .mpg.
Music files below 1,000 KB are suspicious and may be just advert clips or might be a link to a page.
Viruses are mostly .exe files but also come in .zip files. Make sure you tread carefully and if you aren't using an antivirus program, it's probably best to avoid them.
You could always try a free antivirus program, the best of which is probably Avast Home Ed. (www.avast.com).
However, having said that, I have been using Limewire quite recklessly for the past year or so and have managed not to get any malware or viruses from it.
If you're careful, it's quite safe.

Limewire is completely safe and is not bundled with any viruses or spyware. Limewire is the cleanest program around. Just don't download software or PC games and you will be fine.

Limewire is safe...
unlike Kazza or Bearshare which puts spyware into your machine Limewire is clean.
As for viruses...you can't get a virus from Dloading music.
an Mp3 file is not big enough to carry a virus so even if people say they got one from getting music online...they don't know what they are talking about...
Movie Mpeg or Mpg files,Program files such as .exe or condensed files like .rar or .zip CAN contain a virus...so be careful if your doing that.
Limewire itself does not contain any viruses but Dloading some of the above mentioned files could hurt your machine if not careful.

first of all , any sharing program is not totally safe because it depends on the uploader not the program. so it would be better to use an antivirus after downloading, most of the .exe ( PC games & software ) files contains viruses & spyware.
limewire itself considered one of the best sharing programs as it doesn't put spyware or ad-ware to ur computer.. u can find nice comparison between sharing programs at ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_sharing_applications )

Better to be on safeside. Before doing experiments with new down loads, you insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

on Limewire, just stay away from programs exe files you should be good. Most viruses need to be executed before they extract themselves in your machine, so just set up your a/v to scan the file before you open it... And btw, artists make enough money anyways, millions of people steal there music so who cares...

Well One: You're Stealing from the artist
But if you really want it;
You download off of someone elses computer. Vires and all. So I suggest running a Vires scan after you download the Music.
