The Internet is creating a social problem where people do not recognize the individuals they encounter on the Internet as actual humans..Every hate group and every political leader ever bent on genocide uses much the same tactic...dehumanize the individual and you are able to do the most horrific things to innocent people...Dehumanizing is also something sociopaths do (the Internet heightens sociopath tendencies in some people...thus Internet predators)
However, this type of behavior manifests itself (mostly innocuous too) as being able to be far more harsh to people on the Internet than you could be in person...
It is argued that the more people connect through the Internet the less capable some people are to building strong and healthy relationships...go figure...ever wonder why toady's youth are so much further disconnected with the older generation than at any other time in history? Look in to it, friend.

I insult everybody as much as I possibly can, but when I am stuck at work and have insulted the people I do not like in person, then I insult people on Yahoo Answers.

I think that insecure peopole find that they can only insult via internet because they don't know how to react to your reaction in real life. They don't know how to make friends, therefore, they make enemies.

Why do you care.. are you insecure? Only insecure people care what other people think or say.
Insulting people to their face is much more fun, that way you can see their expression change!

Silverback's right - though I would add that it tends to be a certain sort of person who posts on forums in the first place, and that those people are more prone to being randomly mean.

Because they are probably quite reserved or spineless in everyday life, the Internet gives them a security blanket to hide behind and awaken their alter egos!

because they are hiding behind their computer and think that no one will truely find out who they are so they have the false security of thinking they can say anything they want and get away with it.
To them.. its just a stress release no matter what their own personal problem that his driven them to do it. Just try to not take it personal and feel sad for them that they feel that is their only outlet for their anger
