we can not and it is beyond arrogant to think we can.

The point is that you can't stop global warming. It's a natural thing. The world gets gold, the world gets warm. That's the way it is. I suspect that's the way it has always been - and then you get some nut case called Gore that says it's an inconvenient truth. The truth is that there is nothing the wacko left or the extremist right can do about global warming - it's going to happen regardless of what a few billion measly whining humans are going to do. Heck even if everyone switches to green star or whatever refridgerators, all it would take to send the warming trend into a tailspin would be one or two volcanic erruptions. And, sorry Mr. Gore - but there is NOTHING you can do to stop an erruption.
Get used to it, folks. It's getting warmer. We're not going to die. We're going to get warm. That's it, just a bit warmer.

It is a natural process for the earth to go through..but as others have pointed out...were at a point in humanity we've never been at before. There's SO many people that we've cut down alot of rainforests and other tree habitats to make "stuff" for all of us. Unfortunaly all the "stuff" were making doesnt help keep the balance from what we took away. There are certain Graphs and charts you should see, like a timeline of the temperatures of the earth for as far back as 650,000years. In those 650,000 years, the earth is now quite suddenly hotter and has more "natural" carbon monoxide cramming the atmosphere than EVER! if you see it on a graph like seen in Al Gore's "An Inconvient Truth" it helps to see that while it's a natural process, we are pulling it out of it's Natural State, and making it something we NOW have to worry about.

There is no alternative. If global warming is not combatted and stopped, life as we know it on earth, including human life, will be ended. Rapid climate change such as is now occurring compresses natural selection evolution options into a too small paradigm. Living organisms cannot change and adapt so rapidly, nor can they relocate. As a result most species will die, on land and in the sea, shortening and even extinguishing food chains. The only excuses for not combatting global warming ( they are not valid ones) are (1) God will save us from our stuoidity, and (2) Humans will think up something to solve everything. Good Luck!

Well if you are just a regular person like me and most people here, not really. All you can do is worry about your monthly electricity bill, and thinking about this will encourage you to turn off innecessary lightbulbs, or any other electrical equipment you are not using, as well as preserving water, and all those things you can do from home to preserve energy. These things could mean a really tiny help if most people dont do it as well, but if you think like this, you wont do it, and people that think like you then will also never do it, and so on, until the Earth fall again into an ice age.
So, just help the Earth from home, if not thinking in global warming, at least think about your monthly bill.

the fact that global warming is still going on is a natural way the earth deals with humans taking over. Trying to reduce our emitions into the atmosphere does not change the levels in the air but my keeping them constant it may lessen the time before a large occurance due to global warming. and yes the earth may just combat its humans and then go back to a homeostasis but until then the democrats will keep bringing it back up.

If you really care about the environment, you have to go vegetarian. Meat production causes extensive pollution and is a huge drain on our resources. It even causes more pollution than these SUVs people always complain about. It is also easy to become meat free and much kinder to animals. Meat is no longer needed as a food source as many other kinder options exist. In fact, most meat sold today is in the form of stuff like hamburgers and hot dogs and is bad for your health. The only real reason to eat meat is for entertainment and the animals pay the price for our entertainment as they are abused and slaughtered. It is hypocritical to say you care about the environment and love animals while eating meat.

Yeah sure like I should listen to a idiot movie star on how to save the earth. When they do thier part then they can talk.
Julia Roberts drives a Prius, which gets (at best) 60 miles to the gallon, shaving 30 miles off a normal car's mpg. She flew Chicago/LA, 1,749 miles in a private jet, the route she took with Rupert Everett while shooting "My Best Friend's Wedding."
She guzzeled 2,100 gallons of jet fuel. Julia would have to drive 30,000 miles, or roughly once around the earth and then some to even out her consumption in the air.
J-Lo tools around in her 60 miles-per-gallon Prius. She Flew LA /New York, 2,475 miles in a private jet. Lopez was actually sued by a private jet company for allegedly skipping out on the bill, though she says it's all a misunderstanding and she was not supposed to be billed. She guzzled 2,750 gallons of jet fuel. She'd have to drive 45,000 miles, and that's a lot longer for Jenny than just going down the block. It's actually more like twice around the earth.
Eco-champ Brad is yet another Prius-lover, and he reportedly has several hybrids in his stable. He Flew Los Angeles/Namibia, 9,400 miles in a private jet. He Guzzled 11,000 gallons of jet fuel.
Brad burned enough fuel to take a Prius to the moon.
And my Favorite Self riteous Liberal George Clooney favors a Tango, an electric car that gets a whopping 135 miles to the charge. He flew Los Angeles/Tokyo, 5500 miles in a private jet.
He Guzzled 7,000 gallons of jet fuel. Even with his super-saver Tango, he'll have to drive over 57 oceans -- Pacific Oceans to break even.

o yes ! we dont know for sure if the climate change we are going through is man made or part of a natural cycle . but we can all do with less air pollution . No one argues about that. so lets all chip in even if we never see the benefits of it

If we'd prefer a world with giant mosquitoes and centipedes the size of dogs roaming around, where the tropics and deserts have expanded to most of the globe, and all snow for skiing has to be artificial, and storms are frequent and violent, no, we shouldn't try to do anything about it.
