I do.
I have watched Al Gore's "An Inconveient Truth" If someone has a refutation or rebuttal to it, I would like to see it, but the evidence seems very convincing to me.

I believe that global warming exists. What I have a problem with is the blaming it on humans. This planet is on an elliptical orbit around the sun not a spherical one. So it is closer and farther from the sun at different times (not the seasons). Therefore, it would seem that the Earth would go through cyclical warming and cooling periods that mankind can do nothing about.
Lets argue this from the "Its our fault" angle.
In the 1980s the scientists published that we were in a global cooling and that if we didn't change there would be an ice age by the year 2000. So we all got environmentally friendly and cleaned a lot of the pollution out of the atmosphere. Now with a lot less pollution more of the light and heat from the sun is reaching the earth's surface and heating it up. Now we have global warming. So can we blame it on the envirnmentalists now? Or should we revert to the 1970s and start pumping a bunch of crap into the atmosphere to start cooling down the earth?
Additionally, The current favorite worst case scenario crisis of the poles melting and flooding the continents is total BullCrap. When water is frozen it traps the air and lines up all the molecules and expands. Also, Matter is the same reguardless of the state it is in. If the poles melted the volume of water would not increase and the sea level would not rise. To prove this point do the following: Take a glass, fill it with ice, then fill it all the way to the rim with water. Set the glass aside and allow the ice to melt. The water level will remain the same minus some evaporation. The water level will not overflow the glass and create a puddle on the counter top.

To MC:
Although I, too, have noticed the warmer weather this winter, global warming doesn't cause such drastic temperature change in such a short period of time. The warm weather is probably due to yearly fluctuations in temperature - every season is slightly different and I can remember warmer winters in the past. I'm also fairly certain that there is possibly an El Nino season this year (which would make temperatures on the East Coast of the US warmer), but please correct me if I am wrong.
I do think that global warming is an issue and I believe that steps should be taken to stop it. Even if you don't agree with the evidence, however, or if you think that "global warming" is only a natural temperature fluctuation, there are still reasons to reduce human stress on the environment.
Many of the activities that scientists say are causing global warming have other adverse effects on the environment. Exhaust from cars contributes to smog and acid rain, which damage the environment and human health (smog does, at least). Deforestation, which is also said to contribute to global warming, destroys the habitats of many animals and reduces species diversity.
Why does global warming have to be the incentive for us to change our habits? (Although, in my opinion, if it does influence people - and it should - I am all for it) The beauty and health of the world around us is being destroyed - isn't that enough?

Global warming is a fact, a fact of nature. However It is not known what causes G.W. The scientific community is debating that now and despite what the media says there is no consensus. Many people like to believe the worse (including scientist) but all the hype that goes along with the scare is probably more political than scientific. Leftist around the globe have picked up on G.W. because it gives them a platform to attack free enterprise and increase the power of their Government over peoples lives.

Anyone who lives in the Arctic or Antarctic, where the effects are being felt NOW. Really, the question is whether global warming is caused by humans or whether it is part of a natural cycle, that will eventually self-correct. There have been many global warming events found in the fossil record due to natural cycles. But, a lot of evidence also points to the industrial revolution causing the current cycle. That is where the real argument is. Environmental groups blame mankind, while industrial groups wait for conclusive evidence (which they will probably never get, due to the complexity of the question).

Al Gore's movie is not scientific evidence. It's context facts spun to the tune of the liberal whine. And DiCaprio is perhaps an authority on modern day character acting, but hardly a climatologist or geologist or a college graduate. Just because something is in the media does not make it a fact (the movie Pearl Harbor had some facts in it, but wouldn't make the cut against historical documentation for events, as is true with most 'based on true events' movies). Climate fluctuation has taken place every 1500 years or so since the beginning (ice age, medievel warming period, etc). Stop being sheep and get out there and learn some facts. Like from published scientific articles, encyclopedias, or public records.

You would have to be a complete fool not to believe it. There was an article in the paper just last week about the Inuit Indian tribes up in northern Canada and Alaska who said they used to have 10 months of winter and that has been cut down to 6 months of winter and that the animals they hunt for food have moved even farther north so not only do they not have enough food to eat they are having to relocate in order to provide. They say they no longer question Global Warming they are living it.

Sure the earth is warming, but are humans THE cause? We are not smart enough to really know the answer to the question. The planet goes through cycles plain and simple. To suggest that humans are the main reason is arrogant.

Hopefully, everyone who has stepped outside this season! It's 70 degrees in December here, and I don't live far enough south for that to make sense. Global warming is affecting us NOW, and we MUST figure out a way to change our behaviors so that we can slow its effect on the future!

Here in PA our winters have been becoming shorter and warmer for the last several years. Whether this is a short term trend or a long term progressive one is still up in the air.
