Because meaningful gifts come from the HEART not from the wallet. Sure we all love to buy and shop for wonderful things for our family and Id be lying if I said we didnt! They make it soooo commercial now a days. Gimme gimme gimme want want want! Every year for the last 16 years I make my husband and son BOTH coupons on red and green paper. My son gets them for like staying up late- having a friend spend night-getting out of dishes- lunch out with just mom , picking whats for dinner.....and he can use them any time during the year he wants. My hubby on the other hand gets some uhhhhhh great sex coupons along with ones for a day hogging the remote to the tv, back rubs, washing the car and so on. Give a sister with kids a couple coupons for free babysitting one weekend. Use your imagination! WEvery year my hubby and son dig looking for their coupons!

On your computer...make up 'coupons.' Some could be for hugs, some could be for say...washing the dishes once, or washing the car, or free baby sitting for an hour or two, clean house, run errands(if you can drive).....get the picture? That could mean more to someone than a store bought gift. I know it would mean a lot to me if someone gave me a coupon..or a small booklet of them!

Hope this helps!

Christmas is not about dollars, it is about love and caring for family and friends in recognition of the love given by Jesus Christ. A simple cheap, but thoughtful gift will suffice if you feel the need. They won't love you any less.

.if you are broke, you don't need to get something for them. they will understand....make them something...bake them cookies, make food, or just say simple yet meaningful words to them. hugs and I love yous do mean a lot if they come from the heart.
good luck!

A wonderful thing that everyone always appreciates is a promise. Make a card that says you will :...wash windows, take them to the doctor, pick up the house, vacuum, etc.

Write out things that you can do for them and put them in envelopes. Something like "Redeem this letter for one cutting the grass" or "one clean the kitchen. Give them several different ones and they should love it. Good luck and Merry Christ mas

I'm in the same boat you are. I am buying very cheap gifts, but they understand that I'm doing the best I can and that I still love them very much.

Coupons for chores, (ie. cleaning offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, help organize, help burn cds, computer stuff, wash car, backrubs, shovel snow, mow lawn, cook meals, help with parties)

Do it with cheer and make it fun and they'll be happy to have your gifts.
