I'm thirteen... I've heard that after you start getting discharge constantly you should have your first period in about six months... I've had discharge since I was like ten and a half and I have never even had signs of a period. (no stomach cramping or bloating) I'm a little underweight... five foot three and only one hundred pounds. I also take a medication ADDERAL for my ADD, which is partially responsible for why I am so skinny... it kind of gets rid of my appetite. (I also have a high metabolism) Am I okay or should I see a doctor about it? Any reasons why I might not have had one yet? Thanks for your help!

Don't worry your still young. If your really concerned ask your doctor the next time you go for a check-up (or have your mom ask). Your fine.

Everyone starts their periods at different times- some earlier, some later. Like others said, just wait. But I would talk to a doctor about the discharge, you might have chronic yeast infections- very common and not a big deal, but something to be looked at. Some girls have discharge before they start and some don't.
You sound worried, so talk to your mom, doctor or a friend's mom and have a doctor check you out. Not knowing can be more stressful than anything else. And don't worry, I am sure you are fine.

You should most likely see a doctor, almost defenitely. There's some kind of problem there, I'm about 90 pounds, five foot two and I've been having periods since eleven, then again with everyone it's different, a few people I know didn't have their first periods until they were fourteen but if you're worried, or more likely should seek medical help.

OK-Don't worry about it. Not all girls start at 13! I didn't, I was 14. Plus, with you being thinner, and petite, you will probably start a little later than 'heavier' girls. It has been proven that body fat does play a factor in maturing young girls. Oh, and the 'discharge', it's not written in stone you will start in 6 months, actually, from all I've read and heard, the discharge can last a much longer time.

So, relax, and ENJOY it while you can! One day soon you may be wishing for the old days again!!

I don't know about the discharge thing. If it is think and cloudy, you might need to see a doctor anyhow. As far as your age, I was fourteen when I started so you are still young. Rumor has it that whenever your mother started her period, is generally when you will start yours, so you might ask her if you can. After you get your period, which you will, you will have it for the next 30 years or more, so enjoy now. Good luck to you!

Your low body fat percentage is probably contributing to it, but you are WAY too young to be worried about this yet. I had my first period at like 11 and didn't have another for 2 years. If it's worrying you, talk to your doctor for sure, but i think it's probably a combination of your age and your weight. ( I am 5'4 and dropped down to 100 once while anorexic and didn't have a period for awhile.) Enjoy it while you can!

By the way, does your Adderal work for you? I am about to go on it, just curious if it's effective. I was worried it causes weight gain but apparently not?

Your symptom is not one listed for Adderal. Adderal however, is a nasty drug (AKA Ritalin). You should note that it has recently been banned in Canada because it contributed to 20 deaths.

I started to get my period when I was 13 but had discharge for 8 months prior, so what you have may be, and I stress MAY BE normal. I would definitely consult your doctor about this, even if it's to ease your mind.

Don't worry. You have plenty of time. I started my period at 15 1/2. I was an athlete in high school - a runner, so I had a very low percentage of body fat. I think it is what delayed my start. When I finally started, everything was fine. Now I'm 40 (practically an old lady :) - and I'm pregnant with my second child - totally natural pregnancy. Don't spend any more time worrying. Enjoy your youth - you are fine!

i do not know if the medication is making a difference or not. i got mine when i was twelve so that is only a year earlier. i knew a girl growing up and she did not get hers until she was 16. she had to go to the doctors and get a shot. i think that i may have been hormones. don't worry too much yet. you are not behind. and trust me it is nothing to want. it is a pain in the butt. enjoy your pre-period bliss. if you are 15 or 16 and you still have not got it then you might want to see a doctor, but for now you are OK

You are ok. Some girls don't start their period until they are 16. I would wait until then. If you still haven't got it by the time you are 16 then you might want to see the doctor. Until then, don't worry about it. Also, while you are thin, 100 pounds for a 5"3" girl isn't too thin. I wouldn't be worried about your weight either.

Some girls don't start their periods until they are 14 which means you may still have a year to go, so don't be worried. If you have not started by the time you are around 15 see a GYN doctor.
