Depending on which state you live in, he needs to be 18 to get married, otherwise he'll need his parents to sign a permission form. So maybe you guys should wait until he turns 18. You two can get married in City Hall and then ask a lawyer to file for a greencard petition for him. You'll be the sponsor and he'll be the beneficiary. It's pretty easy and he'll get his work permit within 3 months. If all goes well, he'll probaby get his conditional greencard (it's good for 2 years) within 3-6 months. After that 2 years and if you guys are still married, he can renew his greencard for 10 years. The initial greencard application will include an interview at the INS where they will ask for pictures, mail to prove that you guys live together, joint bank account, joint tax return, etc... All to prove that you guys are really married. So the answer to your question is: Yes, you can marry him even if he's not a citizen and he can get a greencard provided that you're a US citizen. Good luck!

Don't sweat it. If the marriage is legit, there's just one very quick interview, you get temporary evidence of adjustment to resident status, and the card shows up in the mail. But, if you're missing paperwork, there may be a second interview to present additional evidence. Otherwise, relax. It's simple. I used to do marriage interviews as an immigration officer and, usually, the process is over in less than 15 minutes. If you're in a small metropolitan area with a small district office, it'll be a very short wait for the interview to start. Huge offices like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami might be a different story. But in general, it's painless.

Both of you have to be 18 and he has to either have vaild id with correct info on it or his birth certifacte translated. After marriage you can file a I-131 for his visa, You do understand more than likely they will send him back to his country for a certain amount of time until his visa is appoved. This process is very long and costly. Also, you can contact your local catolic charties and they should be able to help you or if you have the money you can contact a immgration attorney.. High expenisve..

actually my cousin is going through this now!! you will have to get him/her a lawyer then get maried show proof you all have been together for a while(like letters written or old pictures that kind of thing) even though you all will be married it wont make him legal his lawyer will have to set up a trip to mexico for him so he will get his visa (the visiting card thing) then that will let him come up here and beable to stay long enough to get his green card it isnt as hard as it sounds i promise!!!!

i guess u can get married but has he is not 18 he needs his parents permission which i guess will get them in trouble as they must allbe immigrates go to the local civic centre to try to find out how to get a marriage licence. they might feel its a marrige of confenice. i am in the uk but i know of a couple here that got marrid and her husband was still deported. i guess u hve to ask yourself if he does get deported will you go with him. they told her if it was not convenice you will go with him then we can see you are seirous and he will be allowed to stay she did not and hence he is still in algeria. ted
